32% - A Third of Young Adults Not Affiliated with a Religion

The number of Americans who do not identify with any religion continues to grow at a rapid pace. One-fifth of the U.S. public -- and a third of adults under 30 -- are religiously unaffiliated today.
The growth in the number of religiously unaffiliated Americans -- sometimes called the rise of the "nones" -- is largely driven by generational replacement, the gradual supplanting of older generations by newer ones. A third (32%) of adults under 30 have no religious affiliation, compared with just one-in-ten who are 65 and older (9%).
Young adults today are much more likely to be unaffiliated than previous generations were at a similar stage in their lives. These generational differences are consistent with other signs of a gradual softening of religious commitment among some (though by no means all) Americans in recent decades.
Pew Research Center surveys conducted over the last 10 years, for example, find modest growth in the number of people who say they seldom or never attend religious services, as well as a declining number who say they never doubt the existence of God. Read more

Hooray for the cow !!!!

Allah works in mysterious ways.
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Gaza health official says a panicking cow killed a Palestinian man who was trying slaughter the beast during the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice).

Muslims around the world slaughter sheep, cows and goats during the four-day holiday that began Friday to commemorate the sacrifice by their forefather Abraham. But accidents are common as people frequently buy animals to slaughter at home instead of relying on professional butchers.

Official Ashraf al-Kidra said Saturday that 150 other people were hospitalized in the Gaza Strip with knife wounds or other injuries caused by animals trying to break away.

Impoverished families scrimp all year to pay for part of a sheep or cow for the holiday. Many also distribute the meat to even poorer families, giving the celebration a sense of communal solidarity.

Why Catholics do this

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no hospitals.

Today, one out of five people in this country receive their medical care at a Catholic hospital.

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools.

Today, the Catholic Church teaches 3 million students a day, in its more than 250Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its more than 1200 Catholic High

Schools and its more than 5000 Catholic grade schools.

Every day, the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates morepeople than any other organization in the world.

The new Obama Health Mandate could end all this and the tax payers wouldhave to make up the loss.

Also, all Catholic adoption services would come to an end. A humandisaster.

There are more than 77 million Catholics in this country. It takes anestimated 50 million Catholic votes to elect a president. I am asking all ofyou to go to the polls and be united in replacing our present president witha president that will respect the Catholic Church, all Christians, and allReligions besides Islam .

Mr. President, you said, "The USA is not a Christian Nation".

You are wrong we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian valuesallowing all religions in America to Worship & Practice Freely.

Oh, by the way:

MUSLIM HERITAGE IN America :

Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital ?

Have you heard a Muslim orchestra?

Have you seen a Muslim band march in a parade?

Have you witnessed a Muslim charity?

Have you shaken hands with a Muslim?

Have you seen Muslim “Boy Scouts” collecting cans or for the hungry?

Have you seen a Muslim volunteering in a hospital?

Have your seen Muslims do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life ????

They could build their own damned schools and then not impose their crap on the rest of society!!

Keep in mind Muslims make up roughly 1% of the population.
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla (CBS 12) — A controversial push to give south Florida students days off from school for Muslim holidays. In time it could be coming to your child’s school.

The proposal went before a school district committee in Broward County Thursday night.

The Muslim group that wants the two Islamic holidays added to the district’s calendar and they say Palm Beach County is next.

Barbaric post-circumcision penis-sucking practice leads to another death

By Barry Duke
– March 8, 2012Posted in: Judaism, Religion poisons everything, Religious child abuse, The Freethinker
RITUAL circumcision is an abomination. But the bizarre practice of sucking the blood from a genitally mutilated infant after the foreskin is removed is even more horrific – even deadly.
According to a report yesterday in the New York Times, prosecutors are investigating the death of a newborn boy who died in last September after contracting herpes after he was subjected to:
Ritual circumcision with oral suction.
Circumcision.jpg
Utterly disgusting: a picture of metzitzah b’peh being inflicted on a Jewish infant

Brooklyn district attorney, Charles J Hynes, confirmed that the investigation was continuing, but declined to comment further.
The cause of death of the 2-week-old boy, who died at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn on September 28, was Type 1 herpes.
The ritual of oral suction — or in Hebrew, metzitzah b’peh — is practiced almost exclusively in ultra-Orthodox communities and, to a lesser degree, in Orthodox Jewish communities, despite efforts by the city to curtail it and educate communities about its health risks.
The procedure occurs during the circumcision ritual of the bris, as the practitioner, or mohel, removes the foreskin of the penis and then sucks the blood from the wound to clean it.
In 2003 and 2004, the city reported three cases of Type 1 herpes that were linked to circumcision, involving a boy on Staten Island and twin boys in Brooklyn, one of whom died. The procedures were done by one mohel, Rabbi Yitzchok Fischer, who was later prohibited from performing the ritual in New York City.
According to the NYT report, the authorities have not determined the identity of the mohel in the most recent case, but since the death they have been trying to work with the Hasidic community.
In 2004, after the death of the twin, the Brooklyn district attorney tried to open an investigation but received little cooperation within the community, according to a person with knowledge of the case who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it was not brought to trial.
Roughly two-thirds of newborn boys in the city’s Orthodox communities are circumcised with metzitzah b’peh, said Rabbi David Zwiebel, the executive vice president of Agudath Israel of America, who said he was using a calculation based on religious school enrolment figures.
He said that the mohels in the Hasidic community were cognisant of hygiene and that there were things they could do to reduce the risk of herpes without ending the practice.
The rabbi said:
We’re not oblivious to what’s going on. The worst thing that could happen is if the authorities regulate this practice, then it could go underground. I think the practice would continue, but there could be significant difficulty in gathering evidence. I would hope that our government officials take steps in conjunction with the community.
In 2005, Mayor Michael R Bloomberg assembled rabbis throughout the city to try to persuade them to move away from metzitzah b’peh. But they said that the practice was safe and that there was no definitive evidence that it caused herpes. Rabbi David Niederman of the United Jewish Organization in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, said at the time:
The Orthodox Jewish community will continue the practice that has been practiced for over 5,000 years. We do not change. And we will not change.
But in the Bronx on Tuesday, the mayor talked about the medical examiner’s findings in the most recent death, which was also investigated by the health department.
There is probably nobody in public life who fights harder for the separation of church and state than I do, but I just wanted to remind everybody: religious liberty does not simply extend to injuring others or putting children at risk. And we will continue working with the community and others to prevent more baby boys from suffering these tragic fates.

I seriously had no idea about this practice.

Wow, never knew of that practice either. I just can't see any reason to do it these days.

(obligatory joke) Are the Jews trying to outdo the Catholics with how young they go after their targets?

So, do you just walk into the local 7-11 and ask for a gallon of acid ?????

According to the left and CAIR, “honor” killings have nothing to do with Islam.
Islamabad (AFP)

A Pakistani mother who killed her teenage daughter by dousing her with acid for looking at a boy has told the BBC it was the girl’s destiny to die in this way.

Police in Pakistan-administered Kashmir arrested Mohammad Zafar and his wife Zaheen for the 29 October attack on their daughter Anusha, aged 15, who died in hospital two days later after suffering horrific acid burns.

So-called “honour” attacks are common in deeply conservative Pakistan. Rights activists say more than 900 women were murdered last year after being accused of bringing shame on the family in some way.

Speaking from their police cells, the father told the BBC they had warned Anusha before about looking at boys, while the mother described how her daughter had begged for forgiveness.

“She said, ‘I didn’t do it on purpose, I won’t do it again’,” the mother, whose own arm bore an injury from the acid, told the BBC.

Government officials in Brussels, Belgium banned Wednesday a popular Christmas tree exhibit out of concerns that the local Muslim population found it “offensive.”

An “electronic winter tree,” will take the place of the traditional Christmas Tree and Nativity scene at the city center of Grand Place, reports Brussels News.

The electronic sculpture will stand 25 meters (82 feet) tall and consists of a set of television screens, reports Brussels Expat. “During the daytime you can climb to the top of the tree where you will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of the city,” the website explains. “As soon as it becomes dark the tree turns into a spectacle of light and sound. Every ten minutes an amazing show will unfold.”

City councilwoman Bianca Debaets believes a “misplaced argument” over religious sensitivities has moved Brussels to put up the light sculpture. She points to the fact that it display not be referred to “Christmas” in any way to make her point.
