“in exchange for assurances from Russia, the United States and United Kingdom to respect the Ukrainian independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.”

Sure, just let Russia take whatever they want
Well they did take over Chernobyl for a time.
They should consider it , the gift that keeps on giving.
Many troops who occupied that land got sick from the radiation.

Yeah, and sometimes you fight back for what is yours

Funny how you never seem to think that applies to you though.
Funny that you’re not willing to fight. But you want to watch others die, pretty sick on my opinion.

Remember World War I and World War II the only option was to go over there ourselves. Until you’re ready to give all, you really don’t have a say.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

I don’t want to watch others die. Apparently you do though since you think Ukraine should just take a knee and let Russia take whatever they want

We had an agreement with Ukraine. They are now asking for assistance with weapons and I think we should honor our agreement

Funny you bring up world war 2 also. How long do you think we should let Russia take what they want before we are forced to join? Right now we are giving them old weapons and get to stud russias strategies and capabilities without any American soldiers engaging over there

I don’t know how long we should do it, but I can’t wait to see you put on that helmet and that gun and fight for the man. Please beg for your death from your masters, for a war that has nothing to do with us. For half a country who are already Russian and don’t even want to be Ukrainian.

The longer you let Russia take what they want, the quicker the possibility of American soldiers having to be a part of it.
The foolishness of little boys
lol. Alright.

Oh yeah sure because Russia plans to take over all of Europe! Lol that’s worked out great fighting Ukraine by the way. They they certainly have succeeded quite a bit, but with great casualty, but I’m sure any day now they’re going to take over the rest of Europe.😂🙄

Russia is not giving the land back and Ukraine can’t get it back on their own so it’s either we go and fight or we make a peace deal.

“In 1994, Ukraine agreed to transfer these weapons to Russia and became a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, in exchange for assurances from Russia, the United States and United Kingdom to respect the Ukrainian independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.”

Oh a peace deal! You are so smart!! Why didn’t anyone ever think of that before?

You might as well join the Russians. Would hate to have you on our side were they to invade us
The Russians aren't going to invade us or any other NATO country. I don't think this war could have been avoided 2 years ago because Putin at that time made it clear he wanted the whole country. But at this point it's either get everyone killed and every city destroyed or negotiate for peace and give up the eastern areas where ethnic Russians are the predominant group. The Russians have lost a lot more men but they can afford the losses more easily than Ukraine. I appreciate the Ukrainians fighting for their freedom but now the best course might be to end the war then rebuild their defenses so that the Russians would decide twenty years from now it's not worth it. Russia's demographics were already skewed heavily older with not enough younger people. This war killed hundreds of thousands of young men they could ill afford to lose. With hundreds or thousands of men having fled the country with many of them maybe never returning. I think Putin would like this wrapped up with something to show for not only their losses but also by being exposed by the Ukrainians as not the fighting machine they liked to believe about themselves and had European countries worried about.

Russia isn't taking whatever they want. They're entrenched in the far eastern provinces. If the war continues they will grind it out and take more and more and ultimately Ukraine will lose because it doesn't have as many men. Before the war the eastern provinces had a slightly more Ukrainian majority. In the last 10 years that majority has been displaced. It's almost entirely ethnic Russians living there now. The Crimean Peninsula has a more than 90% ethnic Russian majority too. The rest are other groups. Very few Ukrainians. Putin overreached trying to take the whole country. But how many more must die on both sides, how many Ukrainian cities must be destroyed before you decide that it's finally time to sue for peace?

American troops fighting there? So we go in and whip the Russians. What if rather than surrender Putin decides to go nuclear? If the Germans had that option in WWII would Hitler have used it before the Allies reached Berlin? It's insanity no doubt. But we have Putin cornered in Russia. He can't go anywhere else decent without being arrested for war crimes. Who knows what might happen if we push him further.

We have absolutely reached a point where peace negotiations need to happen.

Thanks for the knowledgeable info. What do you think about the failed peace deals before though?

We gave them our word. If we do a peace deal now, what will stop Russia from not doing this again in the future? It just seems like Obama’s false line being drawn again, at some point we need to stand up to our agreements, no?

Big difference between an agreement and a treaty. We have an agreement with Taiwan to give them aid. We have a treaty with Japan to come to their defense. Ukraine should have never given up their nukes without joining NATO first. These small countries unfortunately are just geopolitical pawns. Ukraine needs to acknowledge this and take what they can get in negotiations. If I were them I'd wall off the new border with barriers that would make it extremely difficult in the future for Russia to invade. But that takes money they don't have.

All wars come to an end eventually. How badly must the country suffer before a deal is negotiated?
