Yeah, I think a big issue is a lot of people take pride in having struggle or being oppressed, and sometimes certain people almost look for things to complain about

It’s like gay rights. All for it. Transgenders I support but I know most this site doesn’t. But then you see there’s like 5 extra letters and symbols after lgbt and it just hurts the cause and make people kind of give up

Shouldn't a libertarian view be live and let live? But don't force your views on me? If you're an adult who's not harming anyone you can live as you please. But don't insist society has to be completely reordered to accommodate your particular lifestyle.

Sure. A liberal is me. Someone who believes that common sense doesn't have to be thrown to the wind in order to promote progressive values. There were lots of Democrats like me 20 years ago. We've been pushed out by the leftists because the Democratic Party doesn't want common sense. Which is why Trump won in November and why his favorability numbers are what they are right now.

Wasn't it inevitable though? When you have the liberal premise that we're going to "progress", doesn't that lead to every group outside the mainstream demanding equal time?

Could be right. I'll want to think about whether the same thing could be true of conservatism. When do conservatives say they've gone far enough to the right and will go no further?

If right wing death squads pop up like in Colombia and El Salvador, or even "Brown Shirts" running around beating on people, then things are going too far. Right now winning an election and having a mandate to reduce government is seen by the Left as going too far. Anything Trump wants will be going too far to the Left.

I used to use the word but the problem with using "liberal" is it means something different depending on the country, time period, topic, and person using it.

It's just too broad of a term to mean much of anything without more context than you're usually going to get.
