i honestly don't think he knew him
they are working off a phone list built into the phones system
we had the same setup in management for UPS. IT builds a list of phone numbers for each phone assigned to each upper level position. So the Air Manager may change in one district but the phone number stays the same.
so mike builds a group of phone numbers of the master list by selecting the names not by asking the person for his number.

me thinks there are two possible scenarios.
a) during the transition one of the biden people set this up for a person they were confident would be in that position on the incoming team. So who else was supposed to be on the call that was not on. that persons name shows in the master directory but they change the phone to goldbergs. this scenario is possible but its likely the phone number issue would have been discovered by now.
b) there is an entrenched beaurocrat holdover that hates the team and did the edit recently setting up this scenario.
most likely . Trump faced the same the first time around with palace insiders working to undermine him.

Folks this is a swamp fighting back to preserve its corrupt lifestyle issue.
