Tooner, got any favorite Customers you might stop in and say hi to just to keep in touch?

I still stop in and visit with a few of my old customers if I'm in the little town I delivered to for 25+ years and I run into them here when they come to the big city to shop. I bet I've heard a thousand times (believe it or not)---"We wish you were still our driver". There has been many times I have over heard some kid mention his name and I will ask them if they are related to so and so who ran such and such store? They always say "that's my Grandpa or Grandma". That's when you realize you aren't getting any younger.

Rod is correct. I was shopping in a small town in my area and I heard my name called out. A beautiful young woman ran up and hugged me. I had no clue who she was. Then, she told me I delivered to her 15yrs ago and I had brought her a very special Christmas present.
I thought it was my handsome charm, but alas, it was just a child remembering an old man.

Congratulations. I imagine it was a damn good feeling standing in front of your center your last day. 34 years at any company is an accomplishment. 34 at UPS is awesome. Hate to sound chauvinistic, but as a woman you get a few extra props for doing this job. The way I understand it, if you work one day past your seniority date, you get your vacations? Do you get your unused sick days? Option week?

The way it works here is if you work even just one day in to the new year (we get our days on the first of the calendar year) you get all of your vacation weeks and sick/personal days.

We then determine our retirement eligibility date (7/1/18) and work backward from that date to determine our last work day. Mine is projected to be 5/1/18. (6 weeks vacation, 4 personal and 5 sick days)

June,
I am damn proud of you, for many reasons.
Also, I found it ironic that you retired in January.
All my best for your future.
Thanks sat, where the heck you been!! I have to look up what year this was. My dad said I was named after a chrysler commercial.

We do not get sick days, we get an option week. So after 25 yrs I got 7 weeks, 1 at least you can work and take pay, or just get 50 hrs, or break it into single days. I was told and do not even know if it was correct, had to work one day in 2017 to get the vacations and 200 more in pension. Doesnt matter if it is right or wrong, I am gone. And it wasnt 34 yrs, 32 and 4 months. But thank you!!
