So no level of new level of mgt receives a pension anymore??They dont even give new management a pension anymore. Thats sad
So no level of new level of mgt receives a pension anymore??
They do, but it is different. It is defined contribution rather than defined benefit and it is portable.
- its similar in that it is in the person's name and is portable, but I can't recall what investment options there are or if it just goes in a fund. New mgt. people also get a separate 401K.401k?
I would think it's less then they contribute to ours. How much does UPS contribute yearly to your portable retirement fund [401]?
I think this is correct (going off an old document and memory as I am not under this plan. For the folks in the Portable retirement account: slightly larger 401K match with 50% match of up to 7% of salary, contribution to pension account varies based upon year of service + age and ranges from 5% of pay for less than 35 for age + YOS up tp 8% of pay for 75 or more for age + YOS. Accounts earn interest, are vested after 3 years and the account can be taken when leaving UPS at any age or for any reason. How much does UPS contribute yearly to your portable retirement fund [401]?
"Portable" being the only advantage compared with the old pension system. They do, but it is different. It is defined contribution rather than defined benefit and it is portable.
There's pros and cons to each one. The old pension plan is better if you were in it for 20+ years. You accrue most of the benefits after 20 years of service. If you aren't in it for that long, the newer one is probably better - and you don't feel like you have to stay for the pension."Portable" being the only advantage compared with the old pension system.
