The analogy is you defending the company's every action, like a battered woman who defends her abusive partner, the goodwill hunting part was just a funny way of suggesting that you can get over your pathological thinking. I'll reiterate, if the company didn't purposefully understaff, we wouldn't be as bad off as we are now, and the new employees either wouldn't be necessary, or at least not as necessary.
