I didn't say whether it is right or wrong. I just agreed that the Union allowing UPS to extend the the 60 day transition period is a smart move. That is an opinion. There is no right or wrong in an opinion.

If you don't want the National Negotiating Committee, or Co-Chairs, to extend the 60 days, then that is your opinion and I won't say you are wrong. It is an opinion.

But, here we are.
The leadership of this union is charged with doing the will of its members and to say leadership should push the problem off til after peak when the majority of the membership does not want it handled that way is wrong.

I tell you what I will make a deal with anyone in the package division or national negotiating committee: if they sign up to be my jumper I will STFU and come into work with a smile on my face so long as they are in the seat next to me six days a week.

We elected the leadership. If you don't like what they are doing, vote them out. Simple.

Don't bitch at me just because I agreed with them. You disagree, that is fine.

Go tell them that. Quit bitching at me.

UPS can fly a package from China to United States overnight I think 6 weeks to figure out a schedule is more than enough time for them

Yes it is. But they didn't. So you want to make them pay.

Bitter old man that made a good life off UPS ready to retire with a great pension. Sure, they treated you like crap most times. Take their money and move on and enjoy life.

And exactly where/who will these shippers turn to?

They have long memories. We still have shippers that refuse to use us because of 1997 strike. They will divert, permanently, a large portion of their volume to FedEx and/or the post office after peak.

We've seen it. We are still down 1.5 million packages per day because shippers bailed during contract negotiations. And now, if we fail to deliver their packages before Christmas....well, the writing is on the wall.

They're lack of planning is not my emergency

I am sick and tired of fixing the incompetent mistakes that my management currently makes because they are too stupid to make an informed decision

Please be quiet and let me get ready to put my turkey breast on the grill

You keep saying that but seem to be skipping over some details. You are convinced that thousands of jobs will be lost if 1 local does the same thing every other local is doing? Based on what?

I can't. They won't take my calls. Can you pass the message along for me since you seem to have such a good rapport with them?
Don’t be a scab and take the company side!
Err I mean don’t be a scab by wanting the contract enforced that will cost the union millions of jobs.

I'm no scab, and not taking the Company side. Our Union, our elected officials, are doing this.

I just happen to agree with them since UPS failed over the last 60 days. You don't agree with them, that's fine.
