Like I have said before. It comes down to weak leadership NOT forcing UPS to adhere to a black and white time table to fix a major contract change. And UPS knew they could more than likely drag it out like they did into peak. You guys got played by both UPS and your leadership. Now I would make damn sure I went to meeting and found out exactly who allowed the extensions, who was on board with them etc, and I would make sure next election they are sent packing.
Maybe weAO maybe not. If you read between the lines of article 11, which SOB screamed about to the world that no one could get forced sixth punch or to work T-S if hired before Aug 1 2019, specifically in section 1-v, you’ll find that it claims that the local and the company should work out the needs if T-S is not sufficient. So the local is forced to look weak by “finding a resolution” while the IBT can sit back and not look bad on language that is extremely tricky when you start to break it down. So is the resolution to allow the company to force an unspecified amount of drivers hired before the Aug 1 date onto a T-S schedule? That wouldn’t have looked good either, so when they ask the IBT for clarification they blame the local? A lot of :censored2:ery on this my friends. A lot.

I’m undecided. It’s not the locals role to negotiate the contract which for Saturday is what they have been forced to do by the ibt
On the other hand almost all the locals were able to do it

That we know or heard so far. So not one local has allowed the company to force outside of the Aug 1 date but doesn’t have. T-S staffing issues? This is what I’m curious to see.

Here they came to an agreement on how many routes would be ran and how many post 2019 drivers would need to go with the T-S schedule incluing a few more than the routes(sick, personal, vacation coverage). Other than the first week not a single M-friend driver has had to work and even then it was a single volunteer. Right now we have weekly lists posted for both Monday and Saturday and have had 0 issues.
What really confuses me on this is how someone said the company had dragged their feet in their local on these issues and the local told the company to kick rocks and that no one would be forced in and the company found a solution real quick. Why didn't the IBT tell that local the same thing it suppossedly told 639? I do agree there is alot not being said to members on this issue. I just see it more on the local side than the International side.

The ibt and our local say 70, 71, 135, 391, 509, 533 are also affected but that in those locals it's just a building or two not every driver in the local like what's going on here. Don't know that I believe it cause if that's the case why aren't guys from those locals chiming in here or anywhere else on the internet?

exactly. The only other one i heard was one in California and it dealt with post 2019 hires being forced. But i haven't seen anything since on that matter.

And keep in mind there are two potential issues here. Forced 6th punch, and forced onto a T-S schedule. If either case is applicable, this is where IMO the IBT needs to back the local on that decision and not sit back and toss blame.

The issue here right now is for the last 6 or so years they run 100% of the routes Monday to Saturday for peak including business. No matter how you divide the workforce into Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday you can no longer do that.

Rob Atkinson and Johnny Sawyer were at the building today along with some of our Eboard. Couldn't believe our president was there with those dudes acting like everything was cool less than less than 24 hours after the package division spat in our face by releasing that memorandum.

Takes a lot of gall to show up on our doorstep the day after they released that memo
