December 23rd, 2022.the temperature was -5 windchill -36. I was wearing 2 pairs of cold gear, insulated boots and wool socks. It was so cold that I had to remove my boots and throw hand warmers in because I couldn't feel my toes.
When I went outside that morning I had ice form on my mustache from the moisture in my breath. We showed up worked all day and did our job. We didn't cry, whine or quit, so I think we earned the right to say it sucked. If you have defrost, you have some heat. I've spent many hours in a car where the blower motor went out at some point during the day. I didn't make them come switch my car, snowflake.
.
You didn’t say it sucked, you said you wanted to go home. Have fun dying when your windshield ices over.

Atlantic here as well and Saturdays and Monday(depending on the drivers schedule) are volunteer only and posted weekly. Zero talk about forced. So it seems your local is very weak if you are being forced.

I have my critiques of our local but the more I've learned the less I think this is our locals fault. The company refused to make a reasonable agreement with the local during that 42 or 60 day window. The local told members they didn't have to come in anyways. Then the IBT told the local they could not tell the members that, and had to retract the statement and wait for the co-chairs to come to a resolution.

Then why is every other local not dealing with the same issue? Sounds like yours is caving to pressure from the company and blaming it on the IBT.

I’m in the Atlantic (639) and at today’s pcm we were informed that the operation will be running 6 days for everyone starting next week, so there’s that……

Honestly if this was a national or even a regional issue it would be happening everywhere. I really think some of these locals are screwing their members big time with this.

Isn’t 639 dc and Maryland? Maybe they think it’s worth fighting there if they are going to be busier. Federal workers get a real cola so no inflation problems there

I did check and perhaps the local, but I have heard nothing from the IBT like that. Actually fervently the opposite.
Yeah something isn't adding up. If it was the company we could write it off as they'll say whatever they want to say whether true or not.
If it's a union thing you would think it would go by supplemental area and not just one or two locals like it's seeming it is here. Plus you would hear something from the IBT.
I really think this is something to do with a weak local trying to pawn it off on the main IBT for their lack of testicular fortitude.

Perhaps.
I am more concerned with how and when this will be addressed than who is responsible l. In my view, SOB ran on the campaign promise he would eliminate the forced sixth punch nationwide and now he should be responsible to make good on his word.

Something is going on. I called ibt and they took my details for call back the nice lady said there is a “long long list” of people calling about this issue and it might be a while

All he needs to do is a single tweet.
“Language is clear ups agreed to not force 6 days and we will hold them to it”
If you’re thought enough to fight a senator on the floor then you can tweet that.
Also the company was making preparations for not forcing 6punches so the union could have stood their ground. But someone folded somewhere.

(776) sign up sheets for next Saturday through 12-23…. I got a feeling though that everything will depend on the volume… super light now but a few big sales and a few big snowstorms could change everything… Saturday 12-23 could get interesting nationwide depending on weather situation ((remember 2013)
