Atlantic here as well and Saturdays and Monday(depending on the drivers schedule) are volunteer only and posted weekly. Zero talk about forced. So it seems your local is very weak if you are being forced.

Local 639 myself, big dog-- we just got word today that starting 11/25 every driver is required to report Monday-Saturday. This is despite having a Monday interest list and a Saturday interest list filled from top to bottom, both columns of each page.

I'm a little pissed off about it but hey, I've finally got a route of my own that I friggin' love so it's just extra money to me. Still plan on grieving every instance they tell me to report for a 6th punch, however.

I've learned from a few of the old-timers around here that the trick to ending this BS is to never accept a day off. They tell you to report, you tell them you want your 8. They tell you there's no work, you tell them "I'm not sure what that means, you required me to report to work on my day off and I want a full day's worth of work."

Extra points if you can convince other drivers to do the same.

Also the company was making preparations for not forcing 6punches so the union could have stood their ground. But someone folded somewhere.

You know, it bothers me a bit because the language was clear as day, but SOB could win back all that goodwill if he would just accept the Senator Mullin fight.

This is completely wrong. They had their time to figure it out and sat on their hands. And if they let it slide this peak they will let it slide next year too. And the company will operate next peak as if it knows the union will cave again.

They agreed to the language, they did not prepare. The company forced 6th punches on a ton of Teamsters the past few years and their ability to do so ended with this contract. If the IBT walks back on it the very first peak the language is implemented then they should all be out of a job next election.

Cherish that memory. Forecast is calling for temperatures 30F lower than the average for most Northern states, and up to 30F higher than average for most Southern states.

My state? Well, we ride the Mason Dixon.

I'm kind of hoping we fall on the >30F side of things, but either way this Winter is shaping up to be a weird one.

Still voluntary here as well. They posted a sign up sheet for this Saturday and 3 people signed it. They peg for volunteers at PCM and beg us to refer PVD’s in our areas. Both requests are met with laughter.

They even send out messages the last 2 days reminding us it’s “money making season, remember we need people for Saturday and sign the sheet”. Peak snuck up on them again.

Absolutly....FORGET the public who FORGOT christmas comes the same day each year. They can order their garbage before then and plan ahead. My sympathy for the public is zero to none.
