710, 705?

What, specifically, do you think is so bad about it?
Illinois minimum wage is likely to go up to $10.50 before the Assemblymen get the boot. So our leadership negotiated for less than minimum wage. The Teamcare deductible in 2017 and retirees no longer getting vision or dental.

UPS would have to match any increase in the minimum wage.

Deductibles are a part of life and are here to stay.

I just got on a few months ago at Cach--710 feeders-- do many people show up at the union meetings? Are they strictly UPS member meetings or general membership meetings? Thanks

Local #710 is currently under Trusteeship due to allegations of wrong doing with regards to Union funds. Because of this, our regularly scheduled monthly meetings have been suspended. However, we did have a General Membership Meeting in October, and I believe there is another scheduled in December. These General Membership meetings are open to ALL Local#710 members and, in my opinion, are made up of mostly other Freight members. i.e. YRC, ABF, Centrailia, etc., but there is a pretty good number of UPS employees present as well.

I would estimate that between 150-200 members typically attend.

Take an hour or two and attend if you can. It's the best place to get information, ask questions, and meet fellow members with similar concerns that you may have.

Seems you are correct Avalon.

Very vague on the improvements and changes from what er voted down before.

Improved vacation and floating holidays, more full time jobs, and part time progression. Not horribly impressive. Nothing about improved team care or pension increases like 705 mentioned. Guess we wait for the details.

That's because they aren't there my friend. Believe me if they had a pension increase in the proposal it would have been listed first for everyone to see.

I'm a 705 guy. I'll be voting no on the contract proposal. The biggest reason is the Teamcare. I've looked it over, and it seems like decent coverage. Problem is that it's just not as good as what we currently have, and why the hell should we settle for ANYTHING less?!?

Because that war has been lost and there's no snowballs chance that 705 will be the lone local still on the old medical plan.
If you're yoing to vote no it should be for something you have a chance of changing.

I hear you on that VonDutch. It's really more of a NO vote just on principal. I'm throwing my snowball. There's not really anything we're getting that "blows my skirt up". We should expect, and fight for, more imo.
