Once had a center manager that had a bright idea to proclaim in a PCM one morning that all drivers must be back by 7:30. Later that day I get a message what my ETA was, replied 9pm. You have to be back by 7:30 what they sent back. So bring 35 stops back I replied. No, finish all stops lolol.
that's when you cover your butt and let them know they aren't getting both. Which one do they want? If they won't give you an either this/or that answer I always suggest to service the customer and let them discipline you for not coming in at 7:30. A lot easier to defend when you have conflicting instructions

Gotta' love how they think they can have it both ways. You immediately, instead of delivering, have to scramble into cya mode, sending messages, making phone calls. Waste's more time than it's worth.

They do it and I’ve said it before, they love nothing more than a mad as hell driver. In their mind it makes them feel like you’re invested in the process. I used to stroll in two minutes before start time without a care in the world. Coffee in hand. It drive them nuts. A pissed off driver is an invested in the process driver.
