The Power of Connected
Are we still complaining about ORION. @soberups is that you? I can't remember the last time I cared about Orion.

Too many drivers think like the old days. "This is my route!" No it's not. You're paid to deliver and pick up. Stop trying to pretend your the Micheal Jordan of your route. UPS doesn't care anymore.

Orion is a form of psychological abuse ✊

In your years of experience, how many of your fellow management people have been whacked ?
Meaning;
Left on their own accord ?
a few, usually getting married and moving somewhere else

Forced into early retirement ?
no forced but I knew a few that took buyouts/VSAP

Upper management eliminated their position?
I've only seen this happen to HR and every one of them that wanted to stay (even the worthless ones) were found a spot

Or.... had better options ?
only 3 that I've seen, all are very happy and have better QoL now

Should I put $10k in a 13 month CD at 5.5%?
no you should:
  • contribute to your 401k company match and invest in an S&P fund
  • contribute to an HSA in an S&P fund
  • contribute to your IRA and invest in leveraged ETFs
  • keep a month of pre-tax pay into a checking account, the same in a savings account
  • own 20oz of gold
  • put every remaining penny into Bitcoin
in that order

sounds like someone messed with your PU allowances, is it a lot or containerized smalls?
Naw, skids of paper, boat parts, t-shirts, elevator parts, airplane parts, window blinds etc. car is so blown out, the Reload run from it at night. What’s screwed up, new manager comes in and tries to justify these fictitious numbers as real. Whatever happened to “ Fair days pay for fair days work”? I think they use our production to offset poor performance elsewhere.

Is UPS concerned/ up to speed that the post World War 2 Bretton Woods economic setup might be outdated? I’m thinking BRICS and the chatter of a more multipolar economy vs unipolar and what that would look like in the future with the business? The American Empire isn’t lasting forever!
Carol is probably the only executive that has any idea what you mean, but she's all in on our bull:censored2: system

BRICS is a non-starter though, a bunch of loser countries with gigantic internal and inter-bloc problems
Russia or China could get their act together but that's about as likely as us getting our act together

still I think multipolar is the future but I don't think UPS is losing on much real future potential there, much of the growth we want is in China and the commies will steal our :censored2: and shut us down the moment we look like we're established

I really don't know without talking to ORWM or looking at some timecard audits, does it really matter to you though, you're paid for your time not the O/A, just do the work and collect your check

oh btw I'll touch on this by itself for a bigger IE picture:
most buildings have PPH plans and the managers will drive themselves crazy trying to beat them or change them, etc

what they don't know is the districts get a rolled up PPH target every year (usually just above last year) no matter what has happened or changed

from this PPH target, they divvy up the hours amongst the buildings based on their recent-past performance:
  • ran like kings and carried half the district? congrats you get more of it this year
  • sucked ass and ran your op into the ground? no worries we'll have the good building pick up your hours
just like on road, at the end of the day they have to make a number and can only harass you about improving while everyone else picks up your slack

A manager told me “ A pick up is more important because we can’t send them a bill otherwise” Which begs the question, are pure residential routes under more scrutiny as they don’t generate income?

That map now is not always correct
I've had several instances where it was showing you to turn the wrong way down a one-way Street
It’s a tool…use it when you need to and shut it off when you don’t…unfortunately mgt likes to turn everything into a metric.
Didn’t have most of that crap when I started driving.
We didn’t even use rubbers when having sex with the secretaries back in the day…oh the good ol’ days.

If a pickup is more important...Then why is a missed delivery scrutinized 100 times more than a missed pickup?

that is just above the level I'm privy to, but here's my fanfiction guess:
From what I heard their first couple offers were completely a joke and not even in the realm of reality. They pull this :censored2: every time with the Teamsters, pilots, mechanics, etc…it’s a total time suck and just makes them look like a :censored2:ty company that’s out of touch.
