Oh well, if I only care about how my industry performs why should I care? Isn’t that the Republican way? But even still, the economy did fine under Obama, and again compare what happened to the economy under trump or bush.

I think governments were actively opposing alternative fueled vehicles and continued to heavily subsidize the petroleum industry over alternatives. So maybe there wasn’t the incentive to push for electric cars. Now governments are helping those alternative industries, plus probably battery technology has imported, the range on the electric cars have probably improved, maybe the design and look of electric cars have improved, and maybe the wh6 you charge them and access to charging has improved. I cannot predict the future, maybe people don’t convert to electric cars, I don’t know. But it seems to me that they are gaining in popularity rapidly.

It’s my feeling that the gas/oil/car industries did everything in their power to kill the electric car back then and they succeeded. I mean can you blame them? I would have done the same thing. Now you have a man with enough money to take these guys on and I think it gets their attention. I followed the car industry for a bit and they did everything they could to try and stop Elon from selling his cars as an independent seller. The lawsuits were insane from states to state but we all know how the game works. Bury them in lawsuits until they go bankrupt and they didn’t succeed with that tactic.

Yeah I don’t like giving one person all the credit for huge societal trends because it’s false history. Creating theses untrue narratives which elevate very flawed people is how we ended up with corrupt and incompetent trump as potus. Since I was a kid trump was falsely portrayed as this great business person. Instead of the reality, that he inherited a fvk ton of money from his father. I hate to do the same thing to the very very flawed Musk.
So I think the time was right for electric cars to start having an impact. But one thing that was highlighted by the Elon worship is that it came to light how auto dealers were protected by law. I’d love if the democrats killed the law that auto manufacturers can’t sell directly to customers, and must go through a dealership. Take away their unfair legal protections which prohibit us as consumers from buying cars directly from manufacturers.

And trump inheriting an economy that had been adding jobs for like 7 years straight when he became potus, meant what for his presidency? See Obama having to respond and end the largest economic downturn since the Great Depression wasn’t a real challenge, but trump’s utter failure to respond to COVID and the resulting economic downturn was just bad luck. I do not give Musk all the credit and he definitely has his flaws but he helped pushed the needle and he needs to be given credit for that. I do not worship any man (shut up guys) but I try to give credit where credit is do. As much as I sometimes see myself as left when they won the house /senate it made me a little worried. I do not like the idea of one group holding all the power. All we can do at this point is hope for the best.
