It sounds good, let's get it done. That it hasn't been done makes me think no one is truly serious about stopping illegal immigration and it's all a dog and pony show to placate voters. I still think a physical barrier, backed up by this, would be the most effective. It's about protecting Border Patrol agents too.

That along with the fact the fiber line would be on the Mexico side of the boundary is why I dismissed it as a viable, scalable solution for that part of the detection system.
