California Driver applying for open Texas Driver Position

Lol I'm over California I've noticed while I'm out on routes the people are really aggressive and mean. My wife liked how chill everyone seemed in Houston. People actually treat each other with respect down there. I need everything Houston has to offer.

Makaveli that's a great idea but we bought a manufactured home out here. The community does not allow renting it must be owner occupied.

Rental property is another reason why Texas is appealing to me. I have been on biggerpockets for a few months now and I want to start investing in multifamily properties. I want 50 units and the prices in texas are amazing. Found a 7 unit property for under 550K. In the bay area that's well over a million easily... even in the hood.
Where there is a will there is a way.
What can associations do about vacation rentals?

As long as you don't say anything against the Alamo Texans are really nice.

Air BnB is not exactly the route I want to go. Sounds like a lot of headaches we would much rather reap the benefit of this ridiculous market and skate for greener grass.

I've noticed. It was a pleasant surprise you know... being in the south and all I expected the worst out of people. Folks in my parents neighborhood actually talk to one another. We had pretty much the entire block over for my daughter's birthday party it was surreal. We really want to giver her that wholesome american upbringing where she can actually go play in the neighborhood without worrying about her coming home a crip or blood.

This ridiculous market is only going to get more ridiculous. If you have $80k profit now, just think what it will be years down the road.

There is no way the market will continue at this pace I fully anticipate some type of cooling trend within the next 2-3 years. Hopefully by then we are long gone.

Sometimes it's best to know when to stand up, take your chips and leave while you're up. I believe that time is 2017.

We thought about staying with the parents in TX for a year to stack like crazy while waiting for markets to shift in our favor. They would be thrilled, I guess I would too.

I don't really know of anyway full time employees can transfer. Part-timers can fake an education transfer but that is not allowed for full time employees. It's a bummer because we are locked into the area where we got hired when we were 20 or whatever.

Good evening Brothers/Sisters,

Thanks in advance for your time and attention. You could be anywhere in the world but you are here so thanks.

I am a 2 year California (northern) package car driver. A few months ago, I tried to submit a transfer out to Houston, but I was ultimately told I could not transfer outside of the region. I brushed it off and resumed regular work/life. At the time there were no open positions available for Houston or Willowbrook (outskirt).

About an hour ago, I checked open positions for the hell of it, and sure enough they are hiring drivers for both Houston and Willowbrook. I quickly logged in and went to apply, but I was greeted with a prompt informing me that I would have to apply through UPSers "my life and career" section.

I looked high and low, but was only able to find management positions posted on the upsers website.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Are there any tips you can provide to help me get to the application/interview process? I have no problem with flying to Texas for an Interview, etc but I have to submit the application first.

Please let me know, California is for the birds and we are ready to leave asap.

Thank you
Question are you a current full time driver?? I can tell you may have to quit and reapply.. here's a suggestion apply at upsjobs.com hopefully you will see the opening.. when you get to the interview let them know you are willing to quit and reapply just to relocate.. understand you are taking a huge risk because you may not be re hired but I wouldn't just leave it to HR.. I would go a step further and slip into the building managers office and let him or her know what you are trying to do so they are aware of what's going on.. tell them you are interested in 6 to 1 hire hopefully this info helps you and good luck

I appreciate that Nore. BTW you and Capone did amazing work in the 90's and early 2000s.

Yes I am a full time driver. I feel you on the huge risk park I busted my entire ass to pass those 30 days here in Cali.

Fortunately my step mother is friends with someone in management in the sugarland hub. I have a direct connection to not only her, but the HR person for that building. It's late and I've had a few so I figured in between time I would talk with the family directly before calling them either tomorrow or next week.

I want to secure at least an interview while I'm still hired in California. I know building seniority is toast (although Cypress is opening a brand new building soon), but I would love to keep my little 2 year progression that I've worked my ass off for.

Were you an outside hire where you're at now?

So.... I just did something a little sneaky. Because the UPS careers page would not allow me to apply under my original profile, I created a separate one.

I went through the application process but at the end there was some "down for maintenance" error. I guess this maintenance will be over at 6am my time tomorrow. The application is saved, should I submit it tomorrow or just wait and speak to folks my step mother knows?

It's not like I'm being dishonest I am 100 percent transparent in the application on where I'm from and what I'm currently doing. I don't want to make any critical errors here LMK.

Absolutely Champion, my OG drivers tell me the same exact thing man. Especially out here where beat up ashy cribs run into the half a million dollar range. They know they would be balling out of control in a nice quiet suburb somewhere down south. With only two years in they say YES go for it.

Be patient and let your "contacts" work their magic.

Isn't there a magic moment that you put your social security number in a field on the application and you get stopped right there because that social security number belongs to someone(you) already working for UPS?
