Hispanic people and culture is beautiful but we don't need anymore people to take jobs or run up health care costs and drive wages down and be dependent on welfare. That my taxes pay for. And school the kids

Ricky not everything involved in imperialism and colonization is a bad thing, you don’t know what Honduras was before it happened.

I think about Charles Napier when it comes to putting down savage aspects of colonized cultures as a pretty good example of imperialism helping to progress a culture.

“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”
Charles James Napier - Wikiquote
Westernization of these countries is probably the only reason they have modern systems of government and economic means. They’d still be centuries behind.

Meiji Restoration - Wikipedia

Meiji Restoration is another great example of what westernization can accomplish in skyrocketing a civilization through multiple eras of thought and technology.
india used to be a very rich country but imperialism ruined it i believe. cant recall which other ones.

Yeah India was really rich in the 1700’s.

Colonization didn’t ruin it, it’s struggles civil war and balkanization did. It’s still a very fractured society even today.
Colonization isn’t a purely evil thing, there are upsides to having someone invested in building industries and infrastructure. Bringing in their trained specialists, your country gaining centuries of knowledge.

I don’t really believe imperialism is necessary in today’s age, but it wasn’t just a purely evil thing with only negative outcomes. Those countries weren’t super well off by modern standards of the time and a lot of their customs were medieval hocuspocus.

Uh, actually we do.
Their job skills do not match up well with the skills needed for the open jobs.
Asia Indian and Eastern Asians have better skill sets.

Yes, and Trump wants to go to a merit based immigration system so that foreigners get those higher skill better paying jobs, and Americans can keep the crappy low paying jobs in dying industries.

Maybe instead of wasting billions on a fence we could educate our citizens so they can fill the good jobs....

But I guess nativism and scapegoating immigrants is a better strategy for getting people to the polls.

I agree with your post, it is sad that our university students and recent grads pick bs majors and a meaningless course of study for the large part. Just my opinion.

You really have no ability to think.

Most everything you post is cliche or leftist crowd think propaganda. We provide a free education preschool through grade 12. Most "graduates" aren't even competent to the eighth grade level. Save your whining for someone that gives a :poop:. The pile your type tries to shovel is really getting tiresome to hear and is not bought by increasing numbers. If a person wants to learn, nothing can stop them.

sus·cep·ti·ble
adjective
  1. 1.
likely or liable to be influenced or harmed by a particular thing.
"patients with liver disease may be susceptible to infection"

I'm acquainted with the word "susceptible". Thanks for the lesson.

What I'm not acquainted with is:
-can anyone get it?
-if it's so common why hasn't big pharma developed a vaccine?
-I've heard it can be a serious illness?
-what can the common folk do to decrease the chances of catching it?

and, yes, I know...anyone can google but you seem to have first hand knowledge.

Thanks so much.

-Yes
-Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is a vaccine for tuberculosis (TB) disease. I took it in combo with other vaccines about three years ago. The doctor said I should take it every 10 years as a precaution. I am susceptible to bronchitis and pneumonia is his logic even though the vaccine is not normally given to people over 35.
-Prior to the development of penicillin, it was a serious disease with a 12% mortality rate but it scarred up the lungs of people that survived so they had a lifelong problem with their breathing and susceptibility to other lung diseases including COPD.
-Stay strong health-wise, don't do drugs, wear a mask if you are HIV positive or have a compromised immune system.

PS - you can google if you want to learn more.

Now if wages go up Americans will gave more kids. We just need to spend the money better on education for American kids.
Not sure money is what is needed.
Discipline needs to return to schools and more emphasis on STEM classes.
Almost all unfilled jobs in the USA are in the STEM area.
One doesn’t need a high school diploma to work in service industries.
Most people can’t make change in service jobs straight out of high school.

Plenty of money going to schools, a desire to learn needs to be ingrained in the children at a young age. Less social sciences and more emphasis on STEM, that is where monetary success lies.
I don't need to hear the same old crap that the purpose of education is to teach one to think. In the past, maybe, in the recent climate of indoctrination, anyone can judge the results. Just my opinion.
