In the end, it seems they have the most problems.
In the end, it seems they have the most problems.
Prime example of what? Exactly now.
Tax payers should not be on the hook for the Teamsters self induced mess. I wouldn’t support Biden if a gun was pointed at my head. The Central States Fund was also hurt by the deregulation of the trucking industry in the 80s. Many union carriers couldn't compete with non-union, privateers and Mexican companies. The Union carriers were forced to make hard decisions over labor costs and most eventually closed their doors. These companies left the fund with IOUs that were never to be collected. Combined with the government taking over the fund because of Vegas investment investigations and the fund was doomed. Today the fund is working with government to sure up the finances through the Butch Lewis Act, kind of a FDIC for the fund. Democrats are willing to support a bill, but Republicans are not. Not sure if a Biden White House will advance any talks.
I agree. However, if you bail out the banks....why not us? Serious question.Tax payers should not be on the hook for the Teamsters self induced mess. I wouldn’t support Biden if a gun was pointed at my head.
Hate to say it but with wear n tear on brown driver bodies orphans have to go.Sort of.
In 2002 they reduced the accrual rate from 2% to 1% and for new, or renegotiated contracts, there was a certain
negotiated. Can't remember the numbers right now. Extending the retirement
age would be a long term addition. But when you have all the "orphans" from defunct companies and a
4-1 ratio of retiree vs active.... it's only a matter of time.

No Bank or airline bailouts. Why are the “repayers” always last.I agree. However, if you bail out the banks....why not us? Serious question.
Lots of different crafts out there that the teamsters represent. Plenty that put more wear n tear or strain on someone then a UPS driver.Hate to say it but with wear n tear on brown driver bodies orphans have to go.
So a 70 plus year old retired UPS driver who for all purposes is unemployable loses his pension- just who do you think will end up “on the hook” to take care of him? One way or the other it will happen.Tax payers should not be on the hook for the Teamsters self induced mess. I wouldn’t support Biden if a gun was pointed at my head.
It worked out where the fat slobs running the fund went out for a big dinner.
Kudos to you having such an amazing "signature line". You truly are a legend.
@BigUnionGuy has helped a lot of people in locals with weak and poor representation over the years. ive read this site for a long time. he is typically right on issues that he's watched and dealt with for many more years than some on here have been alive. maybe in 2021 folks posting on here can work and reason together to help make everyone's future stronger instead of lobbing old and tired insults just to bitterly goad other Teamsters.Up this way we have to. Union does nothing. I'm anxious to hear your retort since I already know what it is. Keep up the good work Big UPS Man.
Ok. But they did. Your statement is unclear.Hate to say it but with wear n tear on brown driver bodies orphans have to go.

this is Paul Harvey,
you think about that.
A quick look at US bailouts since my birth.Tax payers should not be on the hook for the Teamsters self induced mess. I wouldn’t support Biden if a gun was pointed at my head.
Unemployable? Really? No Walmart or McDonalds near by?So a 70 plus year old retired UPS driver who for all purposes is unemployable loses his pension- just who do you think will end up “on the hook” to take care of him? One way or the other it will happen.

Most of us have worked all our lives from a young age. Personally I have worked a paying job from 4th grade until a little over a year ago and I’m 72 now. You say get another job— I say friend you.Unemployable? Really? No Walmart or McDonalds near by?
I suppose I could get a meaningless job as a part time car washer.Unemployable? Really? No Walmart or McDonalds near by?
I picture you as more of a Mall Santa.I suppose I could get a meaningless job as a part time car washer.
I would rather work for a living than live off of a government handout. Most of us have worked all our lives from a young age. Personally I have worked a paying job from 4th grade until a little over a year ago and I’m 72 now. You say get another job— I say friend you.
If you could find a PT Car Washer job that paid over $66k last year.I suppose I could get a meaningless job as a part time car washer.
He realized how many greedy corporations during a 2008 and 2009 great recession got huge government handouts and these are corporations that made multi-billions dollarsI would rather work for a living than live off of a government handout.
