There's an ethanol plant at the other end of town . Ethanol is only it's second or third largest product. Cooking oil is it's money maker. It takes around 140,000 bushels of corn to run it for one shift. The energy conversion factor is about 1.65-1 It does create more energy than it consumes. Not a great deal more but still on the positive side nevertheless and ethanol can and is used to clean up dirty gasoline.
Now if only you guys were open mined enough to look at the broader issue you would only have to look at this weeks earnings disclosures from Big Oil, you would be absolutely floored at what you read. Marathon made 6 times more money in this past quarter than it did in the same quarter last year and will raise it's dividend by 200% BP made more than twice as much money in the past quarter than it did in the entire previous year and announced plans to cut it's oil and gas output by 40% by 2030 and Aramco's earnings were up 39%.
Now right now here in this region alone we've got an ocean of shut in gas and we've got the EU loaded up with enough to last the entire year. Now you have to wonder just how much shut in crude oil do we actually have here in the states.
Oh and BTW did you bother to look at Ford's report earlier this week? Car sales overall were down 10% but it's EV sales were UP 120%.
