Taking a picture of an ODS does not guarantee that the message was ever sent or received. You could have typed it in, snapped the pic and then deleted it.

We have a driver go through the same setup. When I told him to not only file against the firing but also the sup working (sup took packages) his response "I don't want to create a target on my back". I said they fired you idiot !
