Maybe. But the smugness of some of these tissue soft folks is amusing. Like anyone here would know a got damn thing about management compensation, pension, etc. I’ve done your job- you fellas can’t say the same.

That has always been a “deep, dark secret” only subject to a “need to know basis”.

I do know that Corporate was stuffing their own defined pension trusts over the last 61 years while paying peanuts to their Union folk.

I can do the research easily through the Brown Cafe archives…

Nope forget about it…Most everybody have their heads stuck in the sand and are quite happy about it…

I'm in New England, so my pension contributions aren't really an issue like the west...

..With that said, I can see why this is not OK. To me, it's the equivalent of someone in Alabama being told they're not getting a raise like the rest of the country because, well, the money they make is 'good enough' for that area.

Plain an simple, the pension contribution is part of our raise. When one area gets more than another, how is that unifying?

Say uh mosthelp maybe you should educate yourself on this subject.
You look kind of. Ignorant right now

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

You should care about the New England pension, it’s in critical declining status

So what exactly happens if the TA gets voted down? Do we actually go on strike, and for what exactly? What is the end goal? According to SOB, he and the negotiation team squeezed every last drop out of the UPS orange. With the media celebrating a historic contract that gives Teamsters all sorts of concessions like A/C, MLK and a decent raise, how is the public going to respond if the rank and file essentially mutiny against the IBT leadership and hit the pavement?

These are just questions and not accusations or judgements being levied at those who are either in support or are against.

I'm just trying to understand what will happen, although I doubt anything good.

My understanding at this point is if national is voted down we strike while renegotiations happen. If supplements are voted down, we continue working, while they renegotiate.

Given that it's a TA endorsed by the IBT, there is no way we would strike due to this being voted down, the company would file a ULP against us at the very least.

We would continue working as the union performed a survey and returned to the table. If negotiations broke down at that point, a strike would again be on the table. We would also lose a ton of public support since everyone knows what we make now and we've touted up to 66% raises for PTers over the contract.

It would be bad, but may be necessary.

Don’t shoot the messenger, I was told this by a very high-level person in the administration. Sounds crazy to me too but we were sent all the materials to the local union hall for an actual strike. Not just practice.

Yep, saw it all at my local today when we did our contract review. Everything from strike signs to yard support signs to give to neighbors and friends.
