John Dean "Jeff" Cooper (May 10, 1920 - September 25, 2006) is known as father of the "Modern Technique" of handgun shooting. Most firearm professionals consider him to be one of the 20th century's leading experts on the use and history of small arms.

Col. Cooper is noted for his no-nonsense quotations about guns and personal defense.

"The media insist that crime is the major concern of the American public today. In this connection they generally push the point that a disarmed society would be a crime-free society. They will not accept the truth that if you take all the guns off the street you still will have a crime problem, whereas if you take the criminals off the street you cannot have a gun problem."

"In the larger sense, however, the personal ownership of firearms is only secondarily a matter of defense against the criminal. Note the following from Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

These are just a couple of his famous quotes.

One of my favorite books is "To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth" by Jeff Cooper.
Highly recommended.

PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives
or here: http://tinyurl.com/cvw2rsj

In March, PoliceOne conducted most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on topic gripping nation's attention in recent weeks: gun control.

More than 15,000 verified law enforcement professionals took part in survey, which aimed to bring together thoughts & opinions of only professional group devoted to limiting & defeating gun violence as part of their sworn responsibility.

Totaling just shy of 30 questions, survey allowed officers across United States to share their perspectives on issues spanning from gun control & gun violence to gun rights.

Contrary to what mainstream media & certain politicians would have us believe, police overwhelmingly favor an armed citizenry, would like to see more guns in hands of responsible people, & are skeptical of any greater restrictions placed on gun purchase, ownership, or accessibility.
officers patrolling America’s streets have a deeply-vested interest — & perhaps most relevant interest — in making sure that decisions related to controlling, monitoring, restricting, as well as supporting &/or prohibiting an armed populace are wise & effective. With this survey, their voice has been heard.

NRA's black commentator becomes Web sensation

Colion Noir belongs to the NRA and owns several guns, including a sleek Glock 17 handgun and
a customized AR-15 rifle.

But as Noir frequently points out, he does not fit the stereotype of NRA members, or what he
calls OFWG: "Old, fat white guys."

At 29, he's not old. Nor is he fat — he's slender and stylishly dressed with sneakers made by Prada.

He's also not white.

In the world of gun owners, Noir, an African American, has become an Internet sensation
and his popularity is growing.

Noir is a practicing attorney. He reads fashion blogs, loves gadgets and drives a sports car and a truck — neither
with a gun rack, although he keeps a metal candy dish full of bullets in his living room.

Really? And nobody thought this violated gun safety 101 when they were lining up hundreds of guns?

Inordinately Right

Some people would say disobeying an unjust law personifies exactly what it means to be an American. However, refusing to enforce a law, when you are sworn to uphold it, is a different story.

He's the sheriff. He refuses to arrest a guy who breaks the law and carries a gun without a permit.
I have a handgun carry permit, I spent the time and money to get one. Why couldn't this guy? He broke the law, and the sheriff didn't do his job. He deserved to be replaced.

He wasnt arrested for supporting a citizens 2nd amendment rights, he was arrested for misconduct by altering an arrest report and falsifying official documents.

22 years ago I was smoking a joint at an Anthrax/ Iron Maiden concert and I walked right by a cop who was there doing security. He ignored me, just like he ignored the hundreds of other people who were openly getting stoned or drinking while underage. Its called "discretionary enforcement" and its nothing new to law enforcement, but there is a big difference between overlooking minor violations of the law and actively covering up those violations once an arrest has already been made.
