No kiddin. I know it's not easy but he's 26, not 18. I was surprised when the OP said 26. Heck, I was working @ UPS when i was 18, married and bought first home @ 22 and driving by 25.
If they had the goods on him, he would have been fired. Period. They don't. He needs to finish up, maybe resign a little earlier. UPS almost never fires anyone with offering them to resign. Unless they have absoulute proof. Even then to bypass the grievance procedure they will. Make sure he gets any vacation time he has coming when he resigns. He should also make sure he has a steward with him when he resigns. UPS should al
Omg, i cannot believe, i ask a stupid little question, and yes got some great responses. But telling me to bud out, asking me to write a note? i hope i can delete all this, i'm embarassed that you are all considered adults! I figured it would be best to ask other workers across the country. I had a conversation with him, he told me what was going on, as his father died when he was 12 and he has crohns disease and i am close to him, he wanted to know if he should get a lawyer as he DIDN'T steal a thing! I told him no lawyer. he lives in the middle of no where pennsylvania!!!They treat employees horrible there, not just ups , almost every employer in the area! They give parking tickets out to employees of some companies... etc.. stupid stuff that shouldn't be happening and there are no jobs there. He has been a good worker for them, considering he shows up at 4am in the morning, with 2 feet of snow on the ground. there are only a few that haven't quit in the past year, i think you should all know that/ that is why he is moving to long island , to have better luck with a career. he doesn't necessarily want to stay with ups, he wants to go to college now as he sees (since his back hurts) that ups isn't the best job in the world. the older drivers tell him that all the time, to run and get a better job, go to school.
I am so sorry , i inquired about this, he doesn't think they have anything on him, he isn't resigning. he didn't do anything wrong, he has been using the shop steward. apparantly he has been doing everything right. just checking.... oh and sorry he doesn't own a home by age 19, what year was that. I don't know if you read the paper, but the economy sucks right now, there are no jobs, people with MBA's are even out of work. And on long island where we're from, good luck trying to buy a home, which costs a minimum of 350,000 with an 8K tax bill, and a 300 electric bill. thanks to the good advice as to the rest eff off
