so wouldn't reading the address label !
You can read all the labels you want but that's not going to keep you from accidentally walking in the wrong truck.

You are right. But if all the boxes in the truck you are loading are going to Detroit and the box in your hands says Chicago you may think you are in the wrong truck. You can read all the labels you want but that's not going to keep you from accidentally walking in the wrong truck.

I was referring to loading package cars also. You never had a misload for another town or even state and have a PT sup argue with you about it because "the PAL label says it goes on your truck".I believe cooper was referring to loading package cars. So it would be more of a case of WIWC. Happens daily.

When I was on the preload we were taught to read from the bottom up. ZIP, state, city then address. Misloads were almost unknown back then.Reading the city name alone is not a good idea.
Back In "the day" we didnt have misloads! Why? Because you overlooked them, and threw them in, with your pickups....just saying! When I was on the preload we were taught to read from the bottom up. ZIP, state, city then address. Misloads were almost unknown back then.
We were also paid $.50/hr less then drivers and given the time to do the job correctly. Many drivers had the same preloader for years.Back In "the day" we didnt have misloads! Why? Because you overlooked them, and threw them in, with your pickups....just saying!

Loaders also read the address label instead of a four digit pal number. They knew the routes and most of the stops. Today they haven't a clue.
I loaded all the RR 1's together, all the RR 2's together, etc. Didn't worry about box #'s. Drivers would trade stops around. We had to know the RR Box # splits to load on the next truck.
Where did you leave the RH catalogs?
