All we did was tell our mechanic and he would replace a broken one --- nothing said. I don't recall anyone ever being charged with an accident for a broken mirror if they said a branch got it or the car washer/ spotter must have done it.

That's why you always take care of your mechanic. A case of beer or a case of their favorite soda twice a month.

Believe me...it pays off.

I learned a few things from work. Did you know if you backed a P-700 down a driveway and pulled the front bumper out with a tree there is an easy fix. Put it in Forward and hit the tree again. The bark keeps you from scratching the paint. Or so I've heard.

I "heard" some drivers carried a can of matching brown shoe polish to hide the scratches.
Probably just a rumor.

Yep,
Mine gave me small bottle of touch up paint in a nail polish bottle as a gift because I repaired my car on route with a serious brake problem, without reporting the incident. It would have gone on his report against him.
He was the first one that came to the hospital when he heard I had colon cancer surgery.
It does pay off.
