I have no doubt as this is the way the company operated since Iā€™ve worked here 33 years. But I am glad IBT did not bend this time. This is not an unforeseen emergency. This is the company refusing to plan properly, and thinking they can just twist arms.
Yep they knew about the surepost issue since spring ā€˜24

Well, Iā€™m not necessarily against new technology and if my Diad can beep and tell me what shelf the package was on great! I would be fine with that. The problem is. I would have to be able to get that package.first.

My building already has the RIFD labels for the loaders. It does ā€œhelpā€ with the misLoads but they are not eliminated. When one of those labels gets on a package thatā€™s wrong. Itā€™s still loaded improperly.
Plus the magic wand scanner would have to be performed in all the trucks minutes before we leave, thatā€™s impossible

Well if drivers donā€™t ruin it and stay at the same pace and not go faster. More jobs will be created.
No they'll cut something else

The way corporations are now they have a set cost they intend to spend on labor and they'll hit that cost no matter what or they lose their jobs too

Maybe a few driver jobs are created, management jobs lost, or insider jobs cut, etc.

Point is, the idea you'll put some American to work without getting some other poor shmuck fired has been dead for decades

Assuming your privy to this, so here it goesā€¦ Is there an active negotiation currently taking place between UPS and USPS or as I was told USPS doesnā€™t want the volume?

If there is an active negotiation then I have a little more sympathy and understanding in UPSā€™s response but if not then why the hell didnā€™t they do what you said above and start posting jobs in December? Didnā€™t Fed Ex say it would take up to a year to transition? What are we missing?

They are negotiating currently.

So, the current price increases are temporary?
Our increase? No it's not temporary from what I know. The usps told us they wanted new rfid labels and they wanted 3x + the current cost we were paying. That wasn't cost effective so we told them no. Once we told them no they wanted to negotiate. My guess is we will loose some of the volume but most will stay. The argument of cheaper alternatives i don't see it. Fedex won't take the volume from my understanding so where else to go?

Good thing I wore my brown pants
How much of our planes accounts for their air planes? Why not tell them to pound sand. Maybe that can help with our air problems?

Really ā€œtold us they wanted new rfid labels and they wanted 3x + the current cost we were payingā€ - do you believe this nonsense?

What USPS wanted is in the public record and this isnā€™t even close.

I had a safety ride this week. And the 20 something on road supervisor wore low top shoes after we had 12 inches of snow the day before. First stop of the day was knee-deep in snow and his shoes were completely full. I almost felt sorry for him and his feet after about nine hours. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‰
Donā€™t feel sorry for them - UPS is selling an outdated view of who they are - the sooner folks realize going into management is a fools game - the better.

Show me where they didn't want us to stop using the surepost label, replace it with a new one that didn't have dual purpose and a rfid chip.
