Scott Davis said this at the conference today, I hope Obama is listening.

"America is fed up and I am hopeful, maybe naively, that we will start seeing some policy decisions" shortly, particularly on global trade policies, Davis said. "Consumer confidence, consumer trust in Washington, can't get much lower than it is right now."
UPS's small-business customers will start hiring once there is some clarity, he said.

Billions in Unemployment Benefits Paid in Error Nearly $19 billion in state unemployment benefits were paid in error during the three years that ended in June, new Labor Department data show.

The amount represents more than 10% of the $180 billion in jobless benefits paid nationwide during the period.
(See a sortable chart of each states’ overpayments)
The tally covers state programs, which offer benefits for up to 26 weeks, from July 2008 to June 2011.
Layers of federal programs that help provide benefits for up to 99 weeks weren’t included.

The figures were released Wednesday as the Obama administration promotes its bid to reduce waste at federal agencies.
The federal government foots the bill for administering the programs, and states are supposed to pay for the benefits.
The Labor Department launched a plan to crack down on the improper payments, targeting Virginia, Indiana, Colorado, Washington, Louisiana and Arizona in particular for their high error rates. Those states will undergo additional monitoring and technical assistance until their error rates dip below 10% and remain there for at least six months, according to the Labor Department.

Speaking of Davis, did anyone else see the petition being distributed to SD about the outrageous hours delivery drivers are having to work and the unfair time standards? The petition is on Moveon.org/

Please do not confuse the website www.moveon.org with www.unabletomoveon.org which discusses the inability of a Really Old Driver to adjust to his retirement and accept his irrelevancy to the new UPS.

Oh that was really cute and even kinda funny, however it adds nothing to the discussion. Are you sure you don;t have an irrelevant cartoon you are just dieing to post too?

I don't know why anyone would have a hard time adjusting to retirement, I've been quite happy with mine. Maybe they need a hobby other than posting on a discussion board.

Obama: My Bill Will Create 1.9 Million Jobs, Drop Unemployment Rate To 8.1%…

I guess he didn’t learn his lesson when he promised the stimulus bill would keep unemployment below 8%.
(USA Today) — President Obama has attached a big number to his jobs bill: 1.9 million.
At a private fundraiser last night, Obama said his proposal would create 1.9 millions jobs, while reducing the 9.1% unemployment rate by a percentage point; he also said it would add two percentage points to the Gross Domestic Product.
Assuming it’s passed by Congress, that is.

“The Republicans in the House, their natural instinct right now is not to engage in the kind of cooperation that we’d like to see,” Obama said in promoting his American Jobs Act.

Obama’s projections appear to be based on those made by Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analystics, who also spoke of 1.9 million jobs and a percentage point drop in the jobless rate.

Zandi also criticized the plan for ignoring home foreclosure “crisis,” calling that a major impediment economic recovery.
And any economic projections are dangerous in the political context — as Republicans prove every day when they cite the mistaken impact of Obama’s 2009 stimulus bill.

“Back in 2009 he promised that the stimulus one would keep unemployment below 8%,” said Republican Party chairman Reince Priebus. “Well of course it’s still above 9% and it’s been that way for many, many months.”

I hear over and over, again, that there is a 1 out of 3 chance that the US will fall back into recession.

If your politicians continue to agree to disagree on everything, esspecially job related policies, then I think it's almost inevitable that the US will have a double dip recession.

No, when this happens, I'll be laughing, since I predicted it first !
And, I wonder how those riots will be with everyone owning a gun !

Jobs crisis may spark riots - New York City Mayor Bloomberg[/h][h=4]New York City mayor warns that high poverty could lead to the kind of riots that have taken place in Europe and North Africa. By Aaron SmithCNNMONEY.COM — 4:27 PM ET 09/16/11

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is worried that high U.S. unemployment could lead to the same kind of riots here that have swept through Europe and North Africa.

"You have a lot of kids graduating college, [who] can't find jobs," said Bloomberg, during his weekly radio show on Friday. "That's what happened in Cairo. That's what happened in Madrid. You don't want those kinds of riots here."

"The public is not happy," he said. "The public knows there is something wrong in this country, and there is. The bottom line is that they're upset."
Riots have gripped various countries in European cities, including Athens and London, fueled by young people infuriated by high unemployment and austerity measures, which in some cases has led to looting. High unemployment among youth is also one of the driving forces behind the Arab Spring, as impoverished protestors in North Africa and the Middle East rose up against their heavy-handed governments.

You better keep your eyes open for those radical muslims because the same thing can happen to you too.......don't think it can't. Your question doesn't even deserve an answer.

The Yucatan Times

Quintana Roo’s plush Playa del Carmen, long a haven for North American and European tourists, was the scene of presumed narco violence early this morning. Shortly before 6:00 a.m. Tourist Police Chief Mario Gómez Frías was shot several times and found dead in his patrol vehicle. He had sustained a head wound.

A second officer accompanying the chief as his bodyguard suffered at least four gunshot wounds but survived. He was taken to a local hospital and operated on at about 10:30 a.m. The officer was in stable condition.

Witnesses reported hearing at least seven shots. Others say the attack appeared to be an ambush, with multiple gunmen walking up to both sides of the patrol vehicle while it was stopped and firing inside at close range.
Mexican authorities maintain that the feared cartel Los Zetas controls most organized crime activities in Cancun and Quintana Roo.

September 10, 2011 2:07 PM Anonymous said... I live in Playa. I am not there right now. I am in the US. This is really right on the strip. From here, you can throw a stone, and it will land on the central strip, stuffed with tourists.

Everyone is suffering here already. The economy is terrible for tourism, mainly as it has overbuilt, and the US is struggling. This is on the back of a dead last summer with Mexican Bird Flu, and only just recovered from Hurricanes Wilma, Emily and Dean Many businesses have closed, but this is because they have been shaken down by the Zetas. They are dicks. They stand in front of the tourists, looking gang tatooed to the hilt, whispering "hash, coke, meth" to the tourists going past. These are tourists with children, baby strollers, etc. They do not look like drug users, but they are so retarded, they offer it to these people. Of course, they don't come back. They are frightened away. Businesses have closed as many can't afford to stay open in this climate AND pay off the Zetas. Beyond that, even if they could afford it, they get spooked and leave. After all, who wants to live surrounded by that. They do the safest thing, pack up shop, and get out.

The police here are stupid and easily bribed. They never respond to stuff that needs responding to. They just shake down the gringos, as they know they have cash. People were starting to leave in droves anyway.

September 10, 2011 8:50 PM Anonymous said... It will take one American on vacation to get killed in the upcoming crossfire and then tourism is finished in Mexico. The government will have to take a no prisoners approach and really start killing these guys off.
