July 10th contract teleforum call

wide load

Starting wage is a waste of time.
First, you don't have to yell at me. Second he ain't my boy. I ain't got no boys and I ain't nobody boy. The Teamsters is a dirty game. Third, Denis isn't looking to be the number two guy or anything of the sort. He is an IBT Trustee which is compensated the same as Sean is as an IBT Vice President. I believe Denis will retire sometime in the next couple years, so he has nothing to lose. Your guy is still a very young man. He has a lot to gain and lose. For all we know he could end up kicked out of the Teamsters for life in the next three years. You just never know. Remember, stay classy.
I wasn’t yelling at you directly. I’m sorry if I startled you. There is a clean slate (excuse the pub) for people to posture. I know Hoffa has some dirt up his sleeve before he goes. Unfortunately for him and him group of acolytes, it ain’t gonna work. His chance has sailed. I have more dirt on Hoffa than Hoffa could ever have on Sean. He will be your boss in 2.5 years Tony. You’ll think he’s the greatest thing. I understand how the Teamsters works. I know you can’t say your true feelings because you’ve already told a bunch of your peers who you are on here. I’ll wait it out.

Ignore him. He isn't concerned about the future. He's only concerned that he's transferred some many times he's considered a new hire in UPS's eyes. He wants this contract to pass no matter what because any hang ups may mean his job.

He's already made that clear from the beginning with his "I'll have to find a new job then." If we strike.
So not true... the company treats me with respect. From the district mgr. on down. I am far from a new hire in the company’s or any locals eyes. The entitled drivers, on the other hand, think I’m a 22.4. My reputation supersedes me. You guys can’t understand that you can disagree with someone with pissing on them?

I really don’t care if a strike happens. I know the consequences. Just not sure that others do. I can move on and take 28’years of company/union experience/contacts with me either within the company, union, or elsewhere. The vote no’ers Really like to bully people though.

You keep telling us how well you are treated by the company and happy with your decisions. Then turn around and complain about how "entitled" drivers are so mean.

You brag about knowing so many routes and being a 30 year cover driver then turn around and whine how you're mistreated by being sent out cold.

Look man vote how you want but to be honest you have a agenda and your little facade is getting old.

Please clarify how many routes is enough to learn cold/blind? 20,50,100? I have never once seen the “company” choose send someone out cold/blind. Entitled drivers misinterpret rules on seniority. I’ve only done this about 25ish years, but I learn something everyday. And what agenda is that?

1) 22.4 is only proposed at this time, to be clear.

2) I have been sent out "cold" or "blind" on at least 10 different routes. There really is no such thing as being "trained" on a route in my center.

You couldn't be farther from the truth. Sean wanted to get fired so that he wouldn't have his name attached to this contract. This was his plan all along. As far as this being a second rate contract, you should read it in its entirety first. I think you will be very surprised.

Fred should be in the top spot on that ticket that they have now, by the way. Fred isn't about intimidating members.
Provide us the Master to read, otherwise we have to guess what it consists of....

However many you happen to learn before you have enough seniority to choose one you already know. You know the consequences of your decisions bro. Stop whining.
So about 160 then? I only need to do 30 more in this building. Why is stating an unsafe practice call whining? I don’t bump people. Most of the time it’s a jerk move. And I don’t think this practice should continue. It doesn’t affect me much, my time is about over. Or I may transfer to one more building and bump into their feeders.

Do you feel it’s an unsafe practice? I’ve done about 20 in the last 4 months, and about 120 total blind/cold. I don’t bump people to send them out blind.

It's an unsafe practice if you have a week mind and panic easily.

Hell my FIRST day on my packet, you know when the supervisor rides with you, ya he didn't. I was alone in my first day.

Take it one stop at a time. If you have misses, you have misses.

The only person in control of your safety is you. You know how to safely deliver pkgs, so do it. Don't claim it's unsafe because you aren't familiar with an area.

Some supplement and rider languages can coincide with the master and you could have some unanswered questions if some of them are not out yet.
"Coincide"....really???

That is more of a reason to release the new Master language before the supplements are settled, than to withhold it.

Look, it's not like we will be reading this thing from cover to cover, for the first time looking for changes.
The way it has always been disseminated is in a synopsis, listed changed article by changed article, with any new language below the old struck out language.

Actually, if you think about it "rationally" (as @Tony Q likes to say ad nauseum), in the terms that you are suggesting, shouldn't we have a tentative agreement on the Master before supplements even start negotiations or the proposal process???
Wouldn't that allow our supplemental committees to better negotiate language that "can coincide with the Master"???

Face it, it's all about the hard sell, misdirection, and controlled confusion through a well timed information overload.
That way, the sheep will be dependent on the shepherd and easily corralled.

There is no good reason that we weren't told why a strike authorization was called for, and there is no good reason why the details of this "handshake agreement" are being withheld.

I get what you are saying on the hard sell part but then again when have you ever seen the master come out before a supplement or the other way around?

That's funny, you have never impressed me as a "status quo, because that's the way it's always been" kind of guy???

Perhaps I have you confused with the guy who was trying to change his local seniority application?
