Their benefits are worth more than what they make in a yearThose that aren't kids / students still finding their way in life have their own businesses and they come to UPS PT for the Benefits. They conveniently forget the value of that.

And honestly this is why I have zero sympathy for them, Full benefits, pension, plus vacation for 20 hours a week. And yes I did 6 years PT working 2 jobs. If you want more either put your time in or go FT when you get the chance.Their benefits are worth more than what they make in a year
Mu question always comes back to when is it cheaper to just pay me to come in early and load? Raising PT wages too high may price them out of jobs.Well it definitely should be making a little bit more
What's fair? I don't know
No joke. Went to the ER 3 times and had an ambulance ride one time. It would have cost me $75k for the three visits, and $2k for the ride. Only payed $75 for the 3 copays.Their benefits are worth more than what they make in a year
I know at least 3 ( 2 CPA's or some Finance-type, 1 Retail store owner), they all make very good money (except maybe the retail guy) and they have wives and kids. They all benefit from them working PT. I saw one moving a "can" ULD that goes into a jet and I swear a 95 year old man could move faster. The ball mats that the cans roll on literally do all the work.Their benefits are worth more than what they make in a year
Yea 100% they have every opportunity to better their life and make more then a “livable” wage but a lot choose not to.And honestly this is why I have zero sympathy for them, Full benefits, pension, plus vacation for 20 hours a week. That's why a lot of the new buildings are being automated.Mu question always comes back to when is it cheaper to just pay me to come in early and load? Raising PT wages too high may price them out of jobs.
My hub is automated and we roughly work close to 25-30hrs a week depending on volume. Unload is the easiest job, more than smalls imo. Smalls is a nightmare. That's why a lot of the new buildings are being automated.
If you were working that many hours on a regular basis they should make it a full-time jobMy hub is automated and we roughly work close to 25-30hrs a week depending on volume. Unload is the easiest job, more than smalls imo. Smalls is a nightmare.
A lot of shifters work 10-13 hours a day. They’re getting ed with the pension. I’ve mentioned this with the BA. Also, we don’t have OT after 5 here. People are dumbfounded when I tell them getting 5-6 hours a day isn’t exactly the norm.If you were working that many hours on a regular basis they should make it a full-time job
That sucks.A lot of shifters work 10-13 hours a day. They’re getting ed with the pension. I’ve mentioned this with the BA. Also, we don’t have OT after 5 here. People are dumbfounded when I tell them getting 5-6 hours a day isn’t exactly the norm.
Especially in smaller buildings like mine. Cheaper to just pay 7 or 8 drivers to load at OT rate than to pay a high PT wage and then another $30k+ in benefits. That's why a lot of the new buildings are being automated.
I would still like to see the offer from. I don’t want to strike bc of part timers. Might be wrong for some but like I said they don’t deserve livable wages doing 3-4hrs a dayThat's why a lot of the new buildings are being automated.

We are supposedly an automated building. It requires even more employees L O L now they just stand around and watch a belt. That's why a lot of the new buildings are being automated.
How much do you think they should make per hour?I would still like to see the offer from. I don’t want to strike bc of part timers. Might be wrong for some but like I said they don’t deserve livable wages doing 3-4hrs a day
RIght I won't cross, but I Damn sure don't want to strike because of the PT wage.I would still like to see the offer from. I don’t want to strike bc of part timers. Might be wrong for some but like I said they don’t deserve livable wages doing 3-4hrs a day
