How about that plane that can almost fly itself!

I mean, the computer decided at the last minute the 11000 foot runway wasn't long enough?
There are two types of thought in aviation.

Airbus believes the aircraft should be automated. The computer is always smarter than the pilot and can make better decisions.

Boeing believes the pilot should have the final authority as to decisions onto the flight. Computers are just an aid to the pilot.

Personally I like Boeing's thought process better. Airbus builds cockpits for comfort. Boeing builds cockpits for pilots.

I agree. Airbus always goes the other way and wants to rely too much on computers. I never trusted their planes.

I don't ever feel unsafe in an Airbus. But as a pilot, I don't like their thinking. When I'm in the left seat that is my aircraft. I'm in control. I do not want a computer telling me the bank angle I'm making is too steep or the runway too short. I know what I'm doing, let me handle it.
