On paid disability and went to center to turn in paperwork, there on the bottom belt were 30 to 40 applicants for PVD's being ushered into offices by several HR then taken out on road. so this no longer ads or interview, this is in full hire mode.

Ok.

So the first pkg they deliver.... you're going to file a grievance. Right ?

If this is allowed in contact we are screwed. However I think during peak ups will realize that uber drivers etc. only work when they want to work. Watch these guys not show up on fridays, or Christmas Eve for example. Service failures, missing packages. Leakers in their cars. Gonna be a messy peak....

With sub-contracting being such an issue in Feeders and UPS Freight, this could

be nothing more than a subterfuge.... in future contract bargaining.

A grievance???

Why not knock the dust off of "The Hammer"..... in Central Region at least???

Wouldn't a work stoppage, at peak under the present collective bargaining agreement, set the stage for us in the upcoming negotiations?

....or is it easier for you "BigUnionGuy's" to sluff it off on the members as usual?

I'll ask again. What is the exact article we can file on ?

ARTICLE 32. SUBCONTRACTING

"For the purpose of preserving work and job opportunities for the employees covered by this Agreement, the Employer agrees that no work or services of the kind, nature or type, and including new operations or buildings, covered by, presently performed, or hereafter assigned to the collective bargaining unit will be subcontracted, transferred, leased, assigned or conveyed in whole or in part to any other plant, person or non-unit employees, unless otherwise provided in this Agreement. The Employer may not subcontract work in any classification for the purpose of avoiding overtime. The Employer may not subcontract work in any classification if any employee who normally performs such work is on layoff."

Without an ops report, how will we know how many pvds are working and how many hours?

Once your grievance has been filed.... you Local will need to send a letter to

the Labor Dept, requesting that info. Pretty standard stuff.

Was curious and looked up which non-RTW states have PVD job listings as of right now:

AK, CA, CO, CT, IL, MD, MN, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, WA (13)
I was able to check my last 4 pay stubs from when I was a seasonal in one of those states. Didn't see any dues taken but did see a couple bucks go to a 401k which I thought was strange.
