i dont think the romans liked the gospels. if youre preaching something different than the state thats probably gonna catch their attention. depending on your freedom of speech, you can keep saying it without troubles or not.
And yet Rome eventually accepted Christianity.

Became the official religion of the Roman Empire in 381. But that didn't just happen. Christianity was growing in the Empire from the Day of Pentecost, A.D. 33.
381 was around the same time it was coopted. chomsky says first 3 centuries it was radical pacifist religion. in the 4th century it was taken over by the roman empire and it became the religion of hte persecutors, the rich, the powerful. he says it remained that way for pretty much the rest of its history.

Was there corruption in the Church hierarchy that developed? Absolutely. You'd be wrong that it's like that everywhere and only the few that see it your way got it right.

i think he means typically it was corrupted after the 3 century but of course you can find good interpretations of it.

notice how it only became the official religion of the state after it was coopted

I could say the sky is blue and you'd say Chris Hedges told you different. Honestly there's not much point talking to you. Have a good one.

i want you to say how christianity changed from 2nd century to 5th century.
You want me to say how it was everywhere? Keep in mind there wasn't a collected Bible yet. There wasn't mass communications. You're trying to apply modern sensibilities to a very, very different world. And the Church wasn't an in your face, protesting the government body.
