Second Class Drivers

The minimum amount of vacation requests are already covered in the contract. If you would like more then change that language. The company will not use part time drivers to cover vacations. They will use them to replace full time drivers

Can't have more without someone to do the work. the company only fulfills their one ph per center then every other ph/sdv request get denied stating "no coverage"

Yes part time drivers could replace full time the same as air drivers could replace full time, put in strong language that blocks a weekend driver from working mon-fri under any circumstance. If these weekend drivers want to go full time they sign the bids just like every other part timers they'll get no leg up on them. If part timers would rather be a weekend driver than work in the hub then would sign a bid for that.

It's a win for everybody the union gets more dues from increased workforce, full time drivers aren't forced to work weekends, part timers have and different option for a work schedule, company/customers get weekend delivery.

And I'm not talking about these hybrid 22.3 paid less drivers.

1 person per center? What you have 10 drivers?
If they are not honoring your contract grieve it.
Your center clearly needs more full time drivers. Not part time drivers.

110 actually, this last sentence is key
Article 16 central contact
The Company will allow a mini-
mum of one (1) single vacation day in each work classification for
areas with twenty-five (25) employees or less; minimum of two (2)
for areas with 26-70 employees and a minimum of three (3)
employees for areas with 71 or more employees, provided there is
coverage for the single vacation days.

As for the minimum 1 required is a ph day which doesn't have that that if there is coverage language..
Article 15 section 1 central contact

The Company will not unrea-
sonably deny the request. The Company will allow a minimum of
one (1) optional holiday per day in each center.

They would advance more loads so they get delivered over the weekend and cut more routes on Mondays

No thanks....

How would part time drivers provide coverage? They could not run a 10hr planned day. They are not even in the same classification. You are grasping at a solution that would possibly work 1% of the time ignoring the other 99% it would be misused.

I dont mind at all when they send PT air drivers to help out. Those young whipper-snappers are always smiling, enthusiastic, and have a great attitudes. Plus it gives them a little preview of what real drivers do everyday so they can decide whether they really want to put their name on the PT to FT driver list

Theyll get paid the same so it doesn't save th on labor to deliver weekend vs Monday. Show up and request your 8 on Monday, has Saturday ground affected your Monday hrs?

Very poor planning on there part.
I don't think so. It's going to make Monday through Friday better. I'm sure they plan on using these second class drivers to fill the void. Problem is there is going to be about 10 friend/t tues-sat drivers getting laid off.... for awhile.

Why not just have part time weekend drivers, they work 2 days a week Saturday Sunday, get driver pay, gaurenteed 8 a day, but part time benefits including vacation. Can't be used mon-fri including peak. Only extra work they could do is voluntary no force for single day vacation coverage, which would allow more approved sdv requests.

Would you want to work this kind of schedule?

This has got to raise DOT issues. The Amazon 3rd party drivers handle their jobs like this, load then drive. These guys look overworked and frantic. No way union employees should work under those conditions. I was looking forward to a juice full time job. This hybrid :censored2: is crap!

We are talking about loading for about 4 hours and then running off bulk stops/air for another 4. We are not talking about running a whole route.
