Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
I’ve been here over a decade, you don’t consider that long term?

I've been here about the same as you and no I wouldn't consider myself long term yet. Maybe when I hit 15 years and get that 5th week of vacation. I would say you've been here long enough to know that the real money and stability comes from going full time. All the part time I would consider long term at my building have been there at least 20 years. You just happen to be in the group that got it the worst when it comes to raises since you weren't at 21 yet. Thing is, you're also in probably the smallest group number wise. Most part timers are either long-term, 15 to 20 years or more or have barely been here at all. It sucks for you that you kind of slipped through the cracks so to speak, but being the smallest group percentage wise unfortunately led to that.

I would say my line of thinking is more in line from a workers point of view than yours. How can taking care of tenured works before new hires be considered a bad thing? 😂 At this point you have got to be trolling. How is right sizing me from your perspective? I literally have been asking this point since yesterday and all you have offered is well nothing.
Because you’re beating a dead horse.

Did you not also notice the nice pension increase you got?

You’re right, I should be and am grateful for that, and the talks of strikes definitely woke me up to how blessed I feel to have the benefits I do in this part time position. Thank you for reminding me though, genuinely

I am just bitter. I understand being made fun of for that, like I’ve said though, it just sucks working from $8.50 to $10 and then they raised starting wage to $10, work from $10 to $15 then raised starting wage to $15, now same things happens at $21. I feel like I joined at the worst time financially when my wage was the lowest and I never received any true yearly raises

At the end of this 5 year contract after all these “historic” raises, I will be making less then what the starting wage is now with MRA. That’s why it sucks man.

SOB was saying it’s time to take care of the long term part timers, I finally felt appreciated lol, and I end up getting $1 and less after 5 years than what ups is paying through MRA

I get it
My wife's been at her part-time job for 14 years and indeed people will make him probably a dollar or less than she is

There's a lot of good things in this contract you got to look at the long-term picture

UPS will pay out $30 billion in new money over the next 5 years that's about equal to what they are paying to the shareholders

I feel we got a lot of good things this contract you can get everything but it will set us up for 2028

Let me rephrase that was that you young guys up for 2028 cuz I will not be here

thanks for the perspective.

This MRA really messed with me I think. See, I don’t mind making the same as a new hire when I feel I’m getting a solid wage.

It sucks that UPS can take it away at any time though, but also I know they’re not paying this out of the goodness of their heart, it’s the minimum they need to get people in the door

That’s why it also messed with me, that after 5 years with this new contract ill still be making less than this current MRA

But you’re right, I am blessed to have the benefits I do, and the hours of this job allow me to appreciate and take care of the responsibilities I have in my life (although I am working full time and 6 days a week for parts of the year)

I just got way too hyped up from Sean, and for how much talking he did about rewarding the long term part timers, I thought I was going to get a lot more than a one time $1 raise

I think I told you, unlike you a selfish bastard he would be fine with it. No different than I would be if they got rid of progression for drivers. And a three day driver made the same as me and they do after four years and I’m fine with that too. That’s what being union is supposed to be.
So it is selfish to look after you and your families best interests? Thats
ludicrous to even propose such a stupid comment. If you are such a generous person how about you click on the donate my paycheck to the charity of your choice button. Don’t be an idiot.

It looks like he tried to get something for everybody

I can honestly tell you I've been doing this for a long time and this is the best contract was ever offered to us

You said it wasn’t about the money, though. And you were happy with what you are making, just upset someone new is making close to your wage. That’s the selfish part. What that guy is making has no bearing on how you provide for your family. I feel like you’re contradicting yourself.

Yea that’s not a good mindset to have. I got a significant pay raise through an MRA and since I’m well compensated I’m happy that a new comer is making the same as me despite me being here 10x as long

I still do feel entitled to certain luxuries over them though like better job assignments and such though lol
