Should part time employees make the same rate as full time employees?

I think it is a jealousy thing, although that’s maybe not the perfect word for it, but it’s more from because you also work so hard and although well paid, to be honest are also probably STILL underpaid for your hard work

Just look at the massive amount of profits this company makes, from OUR labor, and you’ll realize even the highest paid employees at this company are still underpaid

In one year alone UPS paid $4 billion dollars In stock buybacks, to line their pockets of $20 million a year salary

$4 billion in that stock buyback could have given every single ups employee $10,000
Hard to argue against.

Lot of projection in this comment.

So you think Sean is fighting for higher part time wages to hurt the union? You think Hoffa had the right idea and O’Brien is trying to hurt the union by raising wages?
Please explain your math for me one more time. You think higher turnover of initiation fees does more compared to long term higher wage union dues MONTHLY? And I’m the stupid one? LOL

So please explain to me how in 1980 the starting wage for a loader at ups was $8.50 an hour, equivalent to $25 an hour after inflation today, and 30 years later it was the exact same wage? How could they afford to do it back then but can’t now?

Awfully strange how workers wage have nearly stagnated, while corporate shareholder pay has sky rocketed. Highest paid employee used to get 10x more than the lowest paid in the 1950s, now it’s 500x.

Naw, I’m just a 30 year vet, 12 of it part time, There isn’t much more than I want to provide for my family and move onto the next stage of my life as long as it doesn’t involve death.

Fighting for higher wages has you tell me to get off the social Justice wagon? What’s even the point of a union? Some of you guys are way too wrapped up in identity politics

And yea they offer education to part timers because they know most won’t take it because they won’t have time, since you can barely live off part time

“what’s the answer? Who knows”

Equal pay for equal work. Pretty simple
If you make PT wages the same or even close to FT wages there is no reason for PT jobs, it would cost a minimum of 50,000 jobs, and probably more like 80,000.

Pretty simple.

How do you figure that? Why do you think it would get rid of part time jobs? Part time in the 80s was almost exactly the same as full time

I see where you’re coming from, but I would argue

1. Creating more full time jobs is a good thing
And
2. The company would still have an incentive to keep a certain amount of part timers because they would only need to guarantee them 3.5 hours during slow times, which is cheaper than the guaranteed 8, and they can make the work the part timers work longer when needed

Well, you're not arguing because,

1. Pages ago I already told you this was a good thing.

2. Cutting 80,000 jobs would be less than half of the PT jobs, so I literally just said they'd keep most of them

Probably pisses you off, but now you see it my way and are agreeing with me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

1) you aren't REALLY fighting for anything. Only taking out your 10 year axe to grind with the company in the forums and failing miserably.
2) Most replies ive seen from you is like watching a raging feminist talk about gender pay gap (which btw has been debunked) The wnba wont ever make as much as the nba. Mainly due to talent, revenue, popularity.
3) i get what your saying but get off the juice and soap box. I worked 6 years in a union mfg shop where some depts worked different schedules and all were different pay grades depending on department and classification.

We are with the cause on leveling up the part timers, however no need to be a staunch ass on a rage mission in the forums.

How about suggest a different idea like pt start at 20 an hour and get so much extra for 5/10/15 years of dedicated service you can reach that ft pay. Either way it still wont be going in this contract and your replys still are meaningless. Aka beating a drum not to mention a dead horse.

Lol what? So you’re saying you agree, part time wages should be at or near full time wages…

That’s literally exactly what I said.

Maybe if you actually read what I wrote instead of crying about identity politics and the wnba you would have seen that
