Should part time employees make the same rate as full time employees?

Full timers when it comes to part timers...

I'm gonna need a meter that reads a little lower...

Negatively pinning the needle as it is.

Asking for a raise, I understand, asking about a living wage and working only part time I don’t. I never once worked at UPS part time and didn’t have another job or was constantly double shifting when it was available.

All part-timers need is an attractive starting rate that’s a little higher than McDonald’s to account for the more physical work, and the same yearly raises as full timers. Basically, the same exact thing we’ve had since I started at the company over 2 decades ago.

I’m not sure where the controversy comes in that everybody is fighting over it this time, but the status quo is 100% fine. The bump just needs to be higher this time because of deteriorating macro-economic conditions (i.e. an increase in the money supply and the resultant inflationary environment).

Let’s be honest, it’s not like UPS doesn’t raise their rates in relation to inflation, so it’s stupid for us to fight over it and let UPS increase their margins while we do.

So what’s the point of ups paying for education if you can’t even work your way through it? You’re saying you think people need to work a full time job and go to school? That’s not how it used to be

Here's one.... Tome's total compensation for 2021 was $27,620,893. Divide that by the 340,000 IBT employees in the U.S. and it's a one-time payout of $81.24 per employee. If Tome received zero and it was divided up amongst the Union employees, would that be fair to you? Or should only the part-time employees receive it?
Ok, now do shareholders and stock buybacks.

In 2022 ups paid $4.4 billion in stock buybacks, something both Bernie sanders ANDs trump say is unacceptable

Divide $4.4 billion by 340,000 employees and you get over $10,000 for every single employee.

Should we keep going?

Good chance if you’re going to school you live at home. Or in a dorm. That’s what I did, after I was done with school, and I weighed my options and saw that this career paid much more and had a lot more stability, not to mention school money was not even available at UPS.
But you’re not even going to school you’ve been there 10 years so I don’t know why that matters here. You chose to stay part time and that’s fine.

You want to compare how much your school and dorm cost to what it costs now?

Sure I paid for it all myself though, it was about $40,000. Just got through helping two kids with school. One of them worked at UPS and got all of the money that they would pay and worked and I helped pay it was about 70 K she graduated no college debt.

My son is currently not decided working both at UPS and a construction job. Trying to get into the trades.

My next child begins college this fall and has received numerous scholarships for nursing and plans to work at UPS as well.
