I’m open minded but I just don’t see this in practice. It’s not illegal for workers to run entire enterprises in America so it should beg the question—why don’t they?
I am of the belief that management is management for a reason. Owners are owners for a reason. It streamlines the vision, the business plan. Some fail, most fail, actually—some are successful and a very few are wildly successful.
Why aren’t more businesses in the free world worker-owned and ran? Serious question.
part of it is policy. italy has policies which promote worker owned / run business.
another thing would be counter revolutions. so you had this in russia, and in spain too. partly propaganda too. in america, it used to be a very popular idea and the workers were anti capitalist as well. but thats pushed to the margins these days.
worker owned / run biz are actually more likely to succeed than capitalist
if i recall, the traditional definition of socialism is worker run businesses. america had 2 red scares, so its frowned upon.
