The Ballot mess!

Nope. I'm saying your having a black and white view of how these changes come about. Are you saying you'll rather rely on a company that will stick it to you at every turn?
No, I'm saying I would rather rely on a long proven system of checks and balances.
In the present plan we enjoy, if the company were to try to reduce our level of benefits, the union has the power to address the issue up to and including a strike on a company that is recording record profits.
What recourse do we have when the Central States Board of Directors decides that they have to reduce our benefits (or divert our wages) in the face of defined contributions by UPS, coupled with increased healthcare costs?
Add in present language contained in the ACA and you have what we've got here.
A failure to ratify.

That letter was signed by three union presidents, each putting worst case scenario on what could possibly happen to the worst performing plan. It also states that we could not get 40/hrs/week. That is not going to happen at UPS either.

You all no'ers must be on the glass half empty side on things.
What percentage of UPSers are part time and how many of them get 40hrs a week?

They didn't call for a strike last time UPS cut benefits on the UPS plan, why would you think it would happen under this "in bed with UPS" administration?

I think he was trying to say....we had some recourse before. or the opportunity to apply It.....what happens if the plan goes down hill? Just like , many of the Teamster run, Pension plans?

You obviously missed my point that the letter doesn't necessarily apply to the people at UPS. He was standing in solidarity with the other unions. He is the leader of the largest union in America, and therefore carries more clout than the smaller ones.

Don't waste your time with unreasonable people. You can't change their mind.

I was sitting here reading some of the post on here and it occurred to me. Why didn't our current administration explain this letter to their membership? Why did we have to discover this on our own? If this letter was written in the context that upschuck, stonefish and 407 would like you to believe it was. Then why didn't they explain all this to the membership? If it was an oversight, a mistake, or simply media sensationalism then wouldn't it of been easy to explain to the membership that there is nothing to worry about and prevent all this discussion on what "unsustainable" means? The answer is simple they couldn't say any of that. They did everything they could to ignore this letter and its meaning because folks "unsustainable" means "unsustainable". There is no other meaning. We were duped and lied to plain and simple. It was more important to put all of these new participants in their Taft Hartley Plan than it was to attempt to explain the letter. They decided that ignorance brings yes votes and they underestimated areas where health care was changing dramatically. I don't care what side of this argument you are on. No one should agree that keeping the membership in the dark is something they want there elected officials to do. If you agree that being kept in the dark is a good thing then i suggest you apply for management. We pay dues and for that reason we were due an explanation.

It will be hilarious when your in The unsustainable TeamCare. Maybe not tomorrow but soon real soon. All the crying about unsustainable for nothing. What will be even funnier is when you have 2 deductibles because you delayed the process. However the vote turns out tomorrow you're going into TeamCare now let's keep laughing with each other
I can't wait.

Bubblehead i still find it amazing that you can keep these two identities going at the same time. With that kind of trickery you should work for the I.B.T.

No he tried to get elected twice it didn't work out for him. He will switch sides again in three years it still won't work. He may get it by appointment that will be it. What really funny is how the ones that won talk bad about him already. Keep me coming I'm ready

Interesting comment Stonefish, how would you know that they are talking bad about him? I guess you have the occasion to visit his local often or maybe you see them in some other venue...? Anyway it is my understanding that your local and in fact all locals signed a neutrality agreement in Columbus? If that is true, then why are you so outspoken? lol
