Could you kindly post some of these professions that have these equal or better benefits?
I like Inthegame also, he's usually rational and a gentleman when treated as such.
To answer the question i will need him to narrow his definition of "benefits".
But if I'm reading him correctly and he's trying to compare wages and benefits for white collar jobs to those of a UPS driver, that is simply unfair.
While they indeed spend 4 or more years in college, most drivers spend much longer in the "school of hard knocks" to get an opportunity at the back breaking world of package delivery at UPS.
Shouldn't a vocation involving the physical nature of ours, from a company at the top of their game, include top flight health and wealthfare benefits?
It's the process of collective bargaining that makes our wages and benefits possible and we deserve every penny and priveldge.
So in my estimation, the parallel that Johnny Paycheck and Inthegame were trying to make is quite simply apples and oranges.

Inthegame, so because most companies don't give the benefits that U.P.S. does I should be good with benefit reductions? Are you freaking kidding me? Your comment seems like opinions I have heard before from Republicans and Union haters. Lets get this straight we work for a company that is continually recording record profits and you are good with a contract full of concessions? Maybe we should get in touch with U.P.S. and have them pay us Fed Ex wages because why do we deserve the money we make. I hope you are management because if you are Union, you simply don't have a clue! We work are asses off, we are the backbone of this company. We are the face and voice of the company. Drivers are Salespeople, customer service and the complaint department all wrapped up in one and you question our benefits and pay? Unbelievable!!!!

Have I gone off yet. I've welcomed several to teamcare and thanks some from the bottom of my heart. You are the one who told me have fun caving your head in on this site tonight. I haven't done this yet. The poster" I've " has always disagreed with me on the contract but was always respectful. He never let it get personal with me and I respect this about him. Out of all the posters on this site I would have demanded this from you but you let it get personal. You think I liked this? No I kinda hurt but I'm a big boy and instead of sulking I went out and out worked people. It's what I do.

As a youth I never had anyone to believe in me as you know. Now I've found people as I'm a man now and I work as a team with them. Anyone comes after my slate and I'm ready to go. They need something from me I do it. This is called loyalty. I had a dog named Eve as some of you know. I loved her to the point that when she died I was very very devastated. I fell from Grace. I used to call her Loyalty as a name.

I take loyalty very seriously. It's also my name. My guys needed me and I went full force with my team. You underestimated me and so did your steward conference or whatever that secret meeting was.

I'm pretty sure some of you tried to call my members through a secret list. Me and my other fellow stewards have a great repor with our members. You had guys up in out lunchrooms. Feeder drivers from your local and my ba and his pit bull steward debated them and shamed them. It is what it is. When I thought I couldn't do anymore my president called me up and thanked me for what I was doing. He said he needed more though. I couldn't stop yet so I respected the chain of co and and what this great great union man needed me to do and I just kept going. Whatever he needs and what my boys need. I'm a dog whose name is loyalty. A dog is a gift from God as is the understanding of true loyalty. Thank you Jesus for helping me to be a loyal teamster.

Dude you are reading way to much into what I posted.
Maybe I should have just posted it without quoting your post, but you did say "Welcome to Teamcare " twice in that post alone.
It wasn't just for you.
Again, congratulations.
Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back.

It's about fair market value.
I hear the same BS in regards to pro athletes.
There is no better example of a strong union than that of any of the major pro athletes unions.
While their salaries may be viewed as obscene, they are getting their fair share of the spoils.
Why should the owners get a disproportionate share of the revenue in the presence of a collective bargaining agreement.
The union has an obligation to its members to get them their fair share and the court of public opinion will acquiesce in the face of a viable service or product.
Don't be ashamed to demand your just deserts.

I've often heard how others have superior benefits but when asked no one seems to back up the claim. Thought maybe the poster could provide some apples for our oranges.
Perhaps their benefits come in the form of reasonable hours, allowing time off for a better family life?
Maybe they enjoy better health in the form of much less physical exertion or stress?
Are these not benefits?
In forfeiting these benefits, are we unreasonable to ask for more in other areas?
Not everybody can be a doctor, lawyer or stockbroker.
All we are asking for is fair market value.
Many of us feel we are being sold short in deference to the stockholder and corporate greed, manifested in the form of a top heavy management structure.

Speak softly and carry a big stick.
Here is what I have to say. You are right your leaders up North helped you with your cause and it immensely helped. Our leaders ran on a vote no platform, got elected and signed an agreement to support the contract but when asked they basically denied doing it and said it was a neutrality agreement. I would like to congratulate your efforts but quite honestly I believe you and your minions did a huge disservice to members who fought against this healthcare and contract. So waller in your victory if you will, point fingers call names. I could care less. I feel proud that in our local and others we stood up against maybe the worst contract in U.P.S. history. We tried to make a difference and would have if it weren't for blind followers who can't understand the word "unsustainable".

Has there ever been an election where sore losers didn't proclaim the winning majority to be "minions," and "blind followers?"

The majority decided you can learn to deal with a deductible.

Lots of people work their asses off. I worked in construction when I was a teenager. Hardest work I've ever done. A lot harder than moving a :censored2:ing box. I didn't have any benefits.

Read my post about salaries. UPS employees make significantly more than people with 4 year degrees. Cry me a river. If you're so violently against the healthcare being provided to you, go buy your own.

The majority of the minority decided the outcome. The reason given by so many that didn't vote: "It's rigged to pass anyway". I'm not saying there's total truth in that mindset but that's what we heard and it was from higher seniority members.

Annoy a liberal today. Hit them with facts.
Just because you do it and you don't like when he corrects you don't be mad
I am not the one posting false information. Stink was caught and didn't like being put on the spot.
And it wasn't even me who caught him making crap up. Really.

Well if you're dumb enough to believe that you probably shouldn't be provided any means of affecting change through election anyway.

I posted references and that's still not good enough for you? Dude, you are by far the worst lying POS on here. You post bull every time you write your name.

Really, where is the exemption for union run health care plans? You said it was in place. Did you not say that?

And if you're dumb enough to read more into that post than was said I'm dumb for responding to dumb comments. Is that what you mean?
It didn't have anything to do with you. What I said was "If you're dumb enough to believe your union vote was rigged to pass, with no evidence, you're a special kind of dumb and shouldn't be affecting change through election anyway." I can see today was an emotionally trying one for you. Go to bed and I'm sure you'll feel better in the morning.

On the contrary. I said was it set in stone? No. But it's being hammered out. It was even on the news multiple times.
Here #6 dwarf:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...tive-strike-on-union-subsidies-for-obamacare/

And if you have a hard time with comprehension: "But reports have surfaced on a plan that would give union workers -- and only union workers -- subsidies to help pay for health insurance even if they're covered through their job. The purported "carve-out" could soothe the simmering discontent within Big Labor."

You really are the worst TDUer. Once again thank you for proving that my signature is true to you.
