It’s funded by tax dollars that I pay yearly with personal property tax on my vehicles and my boat. Why should I have to pay $8 a day to launch the boat, that I’ve already paid yearly personal property tax on, there when a lot of my yearly tax dollars that go to the county, fund things like that?
You don’t have to launch your boat, therefore no additional fees.

Didn't say that I disagreed.

Older folks will complain that they shouldn't have to pay school taxes because their children are all grown up. How would that be fair?

I just feel like there should be a better use of the tax revenue that they receive other than what they spend it on. At the end of the day, it’s $8 so it’s not like it will break the bank. But......it’s ridiculous in my opinion.

Are you trying to put me out of work?

The best part about user fees is all you have to do to avoid paying them is to not use those services.

Not trying to put anybody out of work. I’m trying to use the services that I’ve paid for through income tax, personal property tax, and my fishing permit and not get boned for $8 every time I want to use the boat that I pay personal property tax on yearly.

Someone has to pay for the DNR's lavish Christmas parties. My wife retired from the Mn. DNR and they used to have some dandy parties. I especially like the game feeds they had where the cooked up tons of fish and venison and anything else taken illegally over a period of time. There was a time when all that stuff was donated to the senior centers but it got to the point that those places couldn't accept anything not USDA inspected.

They charge at the state owned boat landings? Wow.

I will say that if it was a private boat ramp or a fishing club then sure, add all the fees you want. But it just doesn’t seem right to add a fee to use a publicly funded boat ramp. Just my opinion.
That would never fly in Mn. Imagine having a pay booth at 10,000 plus lakes. Many lakes around me have 3-4-or 5 public accesses on them if they are a bigger lake. Each one has trash cans and at least one port-a-pottie.

I’m not the only one that gets upset about it either. There’s a lot of people that throw bigger bitch fits than me about it.

the worst part about the old lake is most of it was ran by the Army Corps of Engineers and the other part by the state of Illinois. So they were going for every penny they could haha. But the pay ramps were all Corps of Engineers. And conveniently they just happen to be the only ramps that are open right now.

I'm surprised the Corp of Eng. charges. We took a week long trip on the Mississippi last year and using the Corp of Eng's locks and dams to navigate the river was free for anyone. I'm sure those lock and dam set ups cost WAY more than a stupid boat ramp. Are all your pay to use state ramps located inside state parks?

Somebody has to pay to support big government.
