Right, isn’t Hospice when you’re close to checking out?
Usually it is. My mother-in-law was on Hospice for about a month -then she went off it for 3 months when she broke her leg- then back on again before checking out for the last time after about another 2 months. During the 3 months she was off it we (actually it was coming out of her life savings) were paying $17,000 a MONTH for her care at the nursing home.

Never seen it last more than a couple or 3 months, and that’s with home care.
3 or 4 months isn't that unusual but much longer would be. One of my sisters was a hospice nurse for a while but it got too depressing for her to basically be on a deathwatch. And most people go home to die when they are on hospice. I do agree most of the time it is less than a month.

It takes a special person to work for hospice care. I could never do it.
