In a thousanth of a second, that cop had to make a decision. He wants to go home at the end of his shift, not be dead.
Best advice is not to point a gun, real or not, at the police.
Humans cannot perceive or comprehend a thousanth of a second.
A more seasoned and trained officer would have backed off and called in a person experienced in these situations.
Our police people are underpaid and not trained to deal with people with mental diseases so they just shoot them.
How would you feel if they did that to your child?
I did not criticize the cop except to say he was incompetent.

Burt Reynolds used to live on my delivery area back when he was married to Loni Anderson. Most of "Smokey and the Bandit" was shot near there. They had some TV crews filming downtown tonight when I was driving back to the building, they were at the spot where they picked up the Coors beer in the movie.

My son worked on some minor movie a few years ago as Burt Reynold's personal assistant. He was in poor health then, my son had to follow him around with a chair because he couldn't stand up for very long. Burt's favorite food was fried chicken, he ate it every day of filming. This week my son is behind the movie camera filming Dolly Parton in a Netflix movie. He stays busy.

You should be ashamed of yourself for this statement. “So they just shoot them” .. smh... I’m ashamed for you.

I'm rarely what I should be.

PS - That is what appears to be the MO.
Cops don't trust anybody and they act impulsively.
I know you have friends that are cops but in big cities, it appears to be a war.
Shoot first and let God sort them out.
At least they are starting to prosecute the renegade cops.

We had one over our county when I moved here in 1979.
He would shoot them in back during a transfer when they 'escaped'.
This was murderers or child rapist but we had the lowest crime rate in Metro Atlanta.
Now our county has a rising crime rate as South and West Atlanta has relocated to our county.
He was also known to lock up his political opponents.
I personally liked it better when he was sheriff.
