In a thousanth of a second, that cop had to make a decision. He wants to go home at the end of his shift, not be dead.
Best advice is not to point a gun, real or not, at the police.
Better advice, don't have a gun in your hand in that situation. The ground is always your best friend at that moment, drop it.

We had one over our county when I moved here in 1979.
He would shoot them in back during a transfer when they 'escaped'.
This was murderers or child rapist but we had the lowest crime rate in Metro Atlanta.
Now our county has a rising crime rate as South and West Atlanta has relocated to our county.
He was also known to lock up his political opponents.
I personally liked it better when he was sheriff.

That Sheriff was crooked as hell too, but he did keep order. Drug dealers would stay away from our County. My older brother had a buddy that got busted with a couple pounds of weed back then. His father found the sheriff at a poker game and paid him off for $15K. His son walked out of jail with all documentation. People around here worship that sheriff and I have been called a liar for telling that story.

I've heard that one and several others.
People that got caught in our county would apologize and say they thought they were in Fulton county or another county.

I have a friend who is 82 as well but still trucking along.
She went to high school with Buddy (that is what she called Burt).
Burt's father was the sheriff in their hometown of West Palm Beach.

I liked this quote by Burt:
Marriage is about the most expensive way for the average man to get laundry done.
In today's environment, he would end up in court, or being sued for that comment. A group of women somewhere would be irreparably damaged, until he wrote them a check. Good thing he wasn't going for the Supreme Court!! lol
