So they assumed then that all other participants at the rally and outside the perimeter weren’t involved in the attempt on Trump’s life?
It's standard procedure to whisk the president/candidate away at the first sign of a threat as quickly as possible. I didn't make the rules. If you aren't satisfied with how they handle things then call them up and share your thoughts. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to hear about a better way.

Yikes, you don't even know how you own party's political process works.

Oof
After the first ballot, yes, to clarify. Candidates are free to drop out (sometimes they die, etc) and delegates can then pledge to a new candidate.
Republicans are SO concerned about Democratic party politics now. They got their wish that Sleepy Joe exited the race and now they're tasting the consequences.

Inordinately Right
You didn’t get to to choose the Republican Vice President though, did you?

And guess whose next in line if the president steps down…?

The horror!
They're next in line after they're sworn into office. They don't automatically become the candidate LMFAO

You haven't even had your convention yet.
Your party could choose to respect the democratic process if they wanted to.

Lol
