Not a hard shot for anyone with some range time on their rifle, even with iron sights.

The young man wasn’t a bad shot at all given the circumstances he made the shot under.

He had a better idea of how to get it done than the baseball field clown that just open fired on street level with his rifle.

That’s true. Maybe we should exercise a little more caution when it comes to drone strikes though

i don't disagree its too easy to make a mistake.

to that point though the drone strike is new and exciting technology that maybe confuses the issue.
the tactic is not new though just in the old days my days a spotter in a combat theatre would call in artillery or other weaponry on a group of suspected combatants.
chances are there would be a big crater where the combatants were and you would never no if you made the right call.
there is a reason many of us ex military from that time period use the expression kill em all and let god sort them out.

the drone does give you the ability to better observe and identify and the ability to record the event and thus determine if the decision was the right one.

the whole problem with the Obama drone issue is if you observe an american in a combat zone with other combantants by drone how do you send troops in the area quickly to capture and try without putting those troops at risk and quickly enough to actually capture them. Ideally you would like to be able to assess the risks carefully before you would fly troops into an area of unknown threats.

nixon resigned to avoid a constitutionally allowed process of impeachment and the assurnace from key senate leadership that they would find him quilty if that impeachment came to them.

He tried to get in but was hesitant around the metal detectors. He was reported for acting strangely and the local police were actively looking for him. But he managed to slip away to that building and the rest is history.

he scouted the area and was acting strange. how he went to that building and was able to climb it is the part of the investigation that really needs to be determined. I'm not sure about the slipped away part when you look at the video there were a lot of people in that area watching him and recording him.

gun free zones in a school where there is no armed protection for the children is an open invitation to every nut in the world.
parts of england are basically gun free zones. the crazies just use a different weapon .
the end result is the same law abiding citizens don't have the weapon to defend themselves and die.

at a presidential detail everyone entering is scanned for a weapon , everyone is thus disarmed no crazies can get into the area to do their damage.
there is no such screeening in a school zone .

"A sniper from a local tactical team deployed to assist the U.S. Secret Service at former President Donald Trump's rally on Saturday took a picture of the gunman and saw him looking through a rangefinder minutes before he tried to assassinate the former president, a local law enforcement officer with direct knowledge of the events told CBS News.

The sniper was one of three snipers, members of local tactical teams, who were stationed inside the building that the shooter used in the attack, the officer said. The operations plan had them stationed inside, looking out windows toward the rally, scanning the crowd. The details about the three snipers were first reported by the local news outlet BeaverCountian.com.

One sniper inside spotted the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, outside and looking up at the roof, observing the building and disappearing, according to the officer who spoke to CBS News. The sniper observed Crooks as he returned to the building, sat down and looked at his phone. At that point, one of the local snipers took a picture of Crooks.

Next, the local sniper observed Crooks looking through a rangefinder, an instrument routinely used by marksmen to determine the distance of a target, and he immediately radioed to the command post, according to the local law enforcement officer. The local sniper also attempted to send the photo of the gunman up the chain of command."

if true this is bad and probably highlights poor communication and poor command and control.

i didnt sleep at a holiday inn express my brother in law is retired secret service agent who spent years on a presidential advance team. we've talked about this alot over the years.

from what he has told me the building would not be part of the perimeter. it would be carefully searched and then sealed off so no one could go back into it or on it. that did not happen this time.

i don't know if any of you saw the CNN interview with a former government sniper who has done over a 1000 advance team missions. he said that this issue is such a blatant failure that an independent investigation needs to be done to ensure this failure was not intentional.
