For those of you who are not part of Local 804, we had our General Membership Meeting today. It was reported that our pension fund has $911,000,000 in it. When our current board took over in Jan 2010, there was about $650,000,000. It was also reported that 3000 members voted on this latest supplement...the most ever. There was also talk of diverting some of our raises into increasing our pensions even more. The board has to run the numbers past the actuaries to see what is doable and if it is even wise. Plus a run down on different things going on in the buildings. President Sylvester's basic message was: the supplement has passed...we no longer have a funds problem...we have a shorter docket problem (less arbitrations)...no contract negotiations ...no elections for a few years...time for solidarity and getting "back to basics" . He wants us all to work together and stand together against management and stop making side deals that undermines our power. Our E/B has plans on doing individual building training seminar to educate the membership on their rights and how to enforce the contract on the front lines. Especially since we now have lots of part timers who learned that by taking the time to vote, they can certainly MAKE THEIR VOICES HEARD and MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I saw a lot more part timers at this meeting. Way more than usual. What I didnt see was "tomdelay," "bigD", "had enough", or "member6045" have the stones to come to the mic and say the outrageous things they say on this forum. That is because they are not leaders. They are not even well minded activists. They are only old guard sore losers whose time has come and gone!!
i was there and heard it all what a shame, once a great union sold out for 300 bucks. Lets wait six months or so and see how great these supplements you talk about work out, I hope you sill work for UPS..

It's October 15th! Today Pete had a meeting with ups on pension fund! I do believe that Pete said there was 911 million strong! Sounds good! Now! What is our funding level at? Percentage wise! Are we out of critical status as Tim stated Sunday. These questions are Very important and members need to know!! Not just you!

As you've astutely pointed out, it's Oct 15th. The plan year doesn't end for 2+ months so you'll need to wait awhile as funding levels change monthly and get reported after the year end. Or you could call a trustee and ask for the current month. Sounds like you missed the meeting and a chance for real facts, but why make that effort when life is so much easier hibernating in fantasyland. Very important questions were answered in your absence.

Well this is a simple question! Did a vote take place on pension increase today?

So now you're responding to your own questions. Here's a hint...YOU should call Pete as YOU'RE the one that needs YOUR questions answered. I get all the info I need whenever I need it.

Do you know Pete's cell number? I'm calling the hall but he is never there and doesn't return my phone calls.

So the executive board shares it's information with the members that they favor? The rest of us get it in the mail months later!! But you cry about our members not being united! Isn't that your battle cry! Members united! Only the ones that don't ask questions!

Stop whining, you are making statements that they are lying about the amount of money that is in the pension.Get together with Big d who says he cant get through to Pete M and go down to the hall and check the books. As far as the the United comment you have no interest in our members being united like we should be to be strong. All your interested is dividing our membership like you have been trying to do all through this supplement and probably will try divide everyone all the way up to next election.

Usually! You guys can't hold water in a cup when it's good news!!! So pension meeting may not have had all the bells and whistles you thought? Is that why we are withholding meeting! I thought Tim said that he would disclose all information as it comes available???

I dont believe i asked for your advice on when to put in my papers in,and as far as my concern about who goes in the hall it will always be a concern whether i am working or retired. We dont need another executive board mismanaging our pension and medical telling us everything is fine, when the truth is that it is being run into the ground.Future retirees deserve a local that is willing to negotiate pension increases for future supplements, not ignore our pension for years and give answers that a pension increase is not possible.

Correct I didn't ask and I have no intention of asking...RETIRE on this wonderful pension increase when all the other supplements eventually pass...so you can at least look a fellow driver with less than 10 years in the eye who will be layed off in Feb..March and April because there will be none to little vacations during those 3 months because your $300/month pension increase bought VCD's into the picture...I do agree a pension increase should implemented on every contract but not for VCD's...so again no intention of asking...just put your papers in and enjoy the increase

Now the vcds are going to cause layoffs for drivers 10 years and under. It just gets better and better.Next you will be telling us that the vcds are going to cause a crash of the internet, and create a 90 percent decrease in the volume. The B/S just doesnt end on here.As far as my increase goes, yes i definetly will enjoy it with the rest of my brothers and sisters in this local who have been ignored for years and deserve every penny of that increase and more.

WOW fedupups ?? you really have NO CLUE.. about your supplemental agreement do you.... Can't layoff a driver to work VCD's #1 , Now drivers are protected and will get 8 hours as long as 2 part timers are on the clock thats # 2 ......

READ YOUR SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT............

You seem to have Pete and Tims cell phone give them a call and report back to Brown cafe bro.I can see the suspense is killing you since the answer really determines how bad you will lose in the next election. Its really a shame how guys like you are more interested in your own political asperations than the members.Being in a union means being united for strength not to divide the members for your own personal gain. The last board had its faults and our current board has its faults,to wish failure on them and not support them only creates failure for our members, failure of our local.
