Evidently Overnite, now known as UPS Freight always had a rocky relationship with the union. The only reason they’re teamsters is because it was all part of the Central States Pension buyout. And how will the new bosses get rid of the teamster union?
The contract is transferred with the sale. In 2023 the new company will have to bargain in good faith with the teamsters.Their contract expires in 2023...with UPS..
Then they would have to decertify correct?Evidently Overnite, now known as UPS Freight has always a rocky relationship with the union. The only reason they’re teamsters is because it was all part of the Central States Pension buyout.
I remember when we bought them, there was lots of chatter of Overnite and Motor Cargo drivers wanting nothing to do with the teamsters.
Yes, definitely a lengthy process but there’s definitely an angle to work if the new management has an eye on getting rid of the union. Then they would have to decertify correct?
Absolutely. I'm just saying they can't just drop the Teamsters.Yes, definitely a lengthy process but there’s definitely an angle to work if the new management has an eye on getting rid of the union.

No, we will be called trans force from my understanding. Will they still be called ups freight? Will they still be unionized after the contract ends?

Do you really think that is a fair assessment, in hindsight, as to how the last contract negotiations and vote(s) went down for our brothers and sisters at UPS Freight???Do you remember the last two UPS freight contracts...they will not go on strike...
They could still be part of the Teamsters, depends on what their new bosses wants.
Lol, Hoffa? If it screws union jobs he will side with the deal. Later on, he will write a letter blaming someone else.UPS to sell freight business to TFI for $800 million as part of 'better not bigger' plan — MarketWatch

....I don't.
Yes that's true but then that's pretty much a strike and the teamsters are still their union unless they decertify.Lock them out
Sure looks like UPS is getting ready to shed their pension liabilities in 2023...
I would expect a possible weight increase (150+) in the package division...
