Things are a lot different now I don't put must trust in some of the workforce I see in there nowThe last company wide strike lasted just short of three weeks. VERY few employees crossed the line. Probably less than one percent. Of that one percent I would say three fourths of them weren’t with the company two years later. For some reason the company didn’t like scabs and found ways to get rid of them.
How would they fly the planes?i imagine if a strike happened again we would basically just try to keep the NDA/EAMs moving
Pilots?Things are a lot different now I don't put must trust in some of the workforce I see in there now
How would they fly the planes?
Whose?Pilots?
Funny the technology exists to make a strike easy, cell phones, facebook, text messaging, etc.
contractor flights could probably handle it, if we cut 2DA and 1DSWhose?
Maybe.contractor flights could probably handle it, if we cut 2DA and 1DS
and if they couldn’t, drop NDA and only run EAM and critical healthcareMaybe.
AnyWhose?
It would be one big cluster, but UPS is good at thatPilots?
yea all those seasonals they hired that have no attachments to the unioni heard from a supervisor that ups has plans to replace us ,if we end up striking.i kind of laughed it off, like good luck with that.but i was curious if anyone has heard anything about their so called plan?
And what shipper in their right minds is going to hand their time critical pigs to a company with striking pilots and mechanics? Not to mention drivers and sorters.and if they couldn’t, drop NDA and only run EAM and critical healthcare
Same as 97. FedEx put it out there if you ship your pkgs with UPS, they will end up sitting in the buildings, not delivered. They really pushed the media on that. UPS tried to approach the Union that the shippers would sign contracts with FedEx and UPS would lose volume they would not recover after strike and therefore would have to eliminate positions. I remember going to a meeting in Louisville and the pilots were there and they promised to stand with us and honor the strike. And as far as UPS trying to deliver what was in the building when the strike started, most of the pkg cars being drove through the gates by management were empty. Just a show for the union that they were still delivering packages. Some packages were delivered, ones that customers put pressure on them because of how important that pkg was needed. The building was a mess when strike was over as many of us who were there in 97 seen when we came back into the bldg. Thing is, just like 97, Media is important. Our local media came out to our picket lines and interviewed the strikers and we were able to get our opinions on the air and newspapers. Under this contract, the impossible wages that a part timer has to survive on, the healthcare fiasco, the 6 day 70 hour weeks will all help persuade public opinion again. And now Social Media is a powerful tool. And what shipper in their right minds is going to hand their time critical pigs to a company with striking pilots and mechanics? Not to mention drivers and sorters.
My guess is FedEx. Would be scooping up the volume and using all the contract pilots and airplane mechanics.
