Voting Starts Next Week! How will you vote and why.

We took a strike authorization vote that passed by 93%. I realize you might be some sort of special needs but you have to understand how that works.

Let's break this down logically, I'll try to use small words so you can keep up with my "special needs" thinking.

First, it was the leadership that called for a strike authorization vote, if Teamsters aren't in a position to weather a strike against UPS, they should not have tempted fate by taking the vote.

Second, any leverage the authorization gave the negotiators was wasted this time around. They presented us with an agreement that we have to turn down.

Third, 93% voted yes to authorize a strike, assuming that only 23% of membership at UPS voted on the strike authorization, that means at least 20% of all UPS Teamsters approve of striking if necessary. How many of the people on these forums who intend to vote no also voted yes to the strike? 100% maybe? The very people you are trying to scare with the threat of a strike are the ones who voted for it. How stupid is that?

We understand that other members may not be prepared to strike, so we hope the leadership is smart enough to use it as a last resort. But to try use the strike as a weapon to beat members into submission? That is all the proof I need to know that you are either the worst example of a union leader ever, or (more likely) a complete fraud.

Ya we are getting the same line here. Better vote yes it’s the best you are gonna get because there is lots of competition now. Seems to me the union has totally forgotten who they work for.

Did 22.4 jobs delivering ground at a much lower rate slip your mind?
At the end of this contract you will cost the company as a package car driver 73 an hour in combined wages and benefits. The 22.4 will cost 67 an hour. Nobody is even close to this. You want to guy this company as all the new competitors get lower costing labor then kill the golden goose. My Pension isn’t tied to ups so have at it. You can’t save people from themselves. Amazon just bought 20 new trucks. These times are a changing.

That's based on a 40 hour work week. So I have to reject those numbers.

This contract would have a much better chance of improving the wording on it.

Hey new guy. You are bevne going to make what I make and Brown has a free hall pass to screw your eyes out.
